Data Governance Specialist

The Role

Capco is looking for a Data Governance Specialist to support our clients in establishing and strengthening effective data governance across their organisations. You’ll work with business, data, technology, risk, and regulatory stakeholders to help define governance frameworks, improve data quality and accountability, and ensure data is managed consistently throughout its lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to work on complex data challenges within financial services, helping clients turn governance principles into practical, sustainable ways of working.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models aligned to business and regulatory requirements.
• Establish clear data ownership, stewardship, accountability, and governance processes across business and technology teams.
• Support data quality initiatives, including defining critical data elements, quality rules, controls, monitoring, and remediation processes.
• Work with stakeholders to strengthen metadata management, data lineage, data classification, and data lifecycle practices.
• Translate governance requirements into practical solutions while supporting adoption, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable change.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience in data governance, data management, data quality, metadata, lineage, or related disciplines.
• Practical knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, standards, controls, and operating models.
• Experience working with business, technology, risk, compliance, and data stakeholders to deliver governance initiatives.
• Strong understanding of data ownership, stewardship, data quality management, metadata, lineage, and regulatory expectations.
• Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data requirements into practical outcomes.

Bonus Points For

• Experience delivering data governance initiatives within banking, financial services, or another regulated environment.
• Knowledge of recognised data management frameworks and industry good practice.
• Experience with data governance, catalogue, metadata, lineage, or data quality platforms.
• Exposure to large-scale data transformation, regulatory, or enterprise data programmes.
• Experience supporting governance adoption, training, or organisational change.
