Join our dedicated team in Unity Lab Services as a Life Safety Equipment Sr. Specialist, where we provide seamless support tailored to our customers' unique needs. We’re seeking an organized individual to handle order entry, order management, stockroom services, material handling, and equipment inspections. You'll be the primary point of contact for lab personnel, ensuring life safety equipment inspection compliance.
A day in the Life:
- Inspect and maintain Life Safety Equipment (LSE) across campus, documenting inspection status, supply levels, equipment condition, expiration dates, and any required maintenance or replacement.
- Manage safety supplies and inventory by monitoring usage, replenishing supplies, submitting orders, rotating stock, completing cycle counts, expediting materials, and maintaining clean and organized stockroom areas.
- Perform equipment verifications, measurements, and calibrations according to customer requirements, manufacturer protocols, SOPs, Work Instructions, and applicable GMP procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting by tracking monthly inspections, analyzing and reconciling customer and Thermo Fisher reports, and providing performance metrics and updates to site leadership.
- Support a strong safety culture by participating in safety initiatives, maintaining and developing Work Instructions, assisting with Job Hazard Assessments and PPE assessments, and identifying opportunities to improve workplace safety.
- Provide technical support, training, and leadership to ULS colleagues by sharing expertise, developing training resources, participating in learning activities, and supporting or leading team meetings and projects.
- Deliver excellent customer service by communicating issues proactively, responding to customer concerns, independently identifying solutions, and working toward timely resolution while professionally representing Thermo Fisher Scientific.
- Drive continuous improvement and teamwork by collaborating with cross-functional teams, applying PPI methodologies, participating in cost-saving and improvement projects, completing required training, and using available systems and resources to meet customer and business requirements.
Keys to Success:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
Good x Practice (GxP) environment or laboratory setting experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a safety-first approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites, which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline.
- Personal protective equipment, such as lab coats, coveralls, facemasks, and steel-toe shoes, is often required.
- The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and pallet jacks to move up to 100 lbs.
- Standing, walking, reaching, and bending are frequent activities, sometimes in varied temperature environments.
- Overtime work may also be necessary.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $25.00–$27.25.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
