Project Controls Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for managing project controls activities throughout the project lifecycle, including scheduling, cost management, forecasting, progress measurement, contract administration, and project reporting. The ideal candidate will work closely with project teams, finance, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the project controls subject matter expert for scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and contract compliance.
• Develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and provide recommendations to improve performance.
• Prepare and maintain project estimates, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and cost reports.
• Perform schedule analysis and validate progress reporting against contractual milestones.
• Manage monthly accruals, forecasting updates, and coordination with accounting and finance teams.
• Review invoices, monitor expenditures, and support cost management activities.
• Track and communicate project risks, potential impacts, and mitigation plans.
• Conduct quantity takeoffs and validate estimates, pricing submissions, and progress measurements.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, suppliers, and project stakeholders to ensure accurate cost and schedule data.
• Support contract administration, change order evaluations, and commercial compliance activities.
• Provide project controls training and guidance to internal and external project participants as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
• Experience with project controls, scheduling, cost control, or construction project management.
• Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software.
• Strong understanding of project forecasting, budgeting, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of construction contracting methods, including EPC, Lump Sum, Unit Price, Time & Materials, and Cost Plus contracts.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Preferred:

• Experience with resource-loaded schedules and earned value management (EVM).
• Experience with Oracle Primavera Unifier or similar project controls platforms.
• Knowledge of financial modeling and enterprise forecasting systems.
• Experience supporting power generation, utility, energy, or large industrial construction projects.
• Understanding of contract interpretation, claims management, and change order negotiations.
