Position Title: Facilities & Custodial Specialist

Department: HR/PR
Reports to: Administrative Manager  
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

As a Facilities & Custodial Specialist at Harper Industries, Inc., you will play an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments throughout our business offices, manufacturing areas, and Spring Creek meeting facility.

This position may be structured as either a part-time or full-time position, depending on the needs of the department and the availability of the selected candidate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors

- Dusting surfaces and cleaning windows to maintain a tidy appearance

- Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in designated areas

- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, door handles, and mirrors

- Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper

- Maintain cleanliness in common areas such as breakrooms, lobby, and offices

- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed

- Clean kitchen(s) at Spring Creek, load dishwasher and safely operate it

- Ensure Spring Creek is clean and presentable for meetings or guests prior to arrival

- Report maintenance issues, damages, or supply shortages to the Office Manager

- Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure a coordinated cleaning schedule

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in janitorial or custodial roles

- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and techniques

- Ability to follow safety guidelines and use cleaning equipment safely

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision

- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and prolonged standing

- Good communication skills to interact with team members and other employees as needed

- Embodies organizational core values (authentic, driven, humble, trustworthy)

Physical Requirements:

- May require repetitive lifting of 20-30 pounds

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods

- Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive motions, including sweeping, mopping, wiping, and equipment operation

- Ability to operate janitorial equipment, such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and cleaning carts

Work Environment:

- May require working hours outside of normal business hours of 8am-5pm 

- Work is performed in both production/manufacturing areas and office environments

- Production areas may include exposure to:

         o Loud noise from machinery and equipment

         o Moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic

         o Dust, debris, and industrial cleaning residues

         o Temperature variations (hot or cold conditions)

- Must wear required personal protective equipment in accordance with company safety policies, including company-provided safety glasses and employee-provided steel-toed footwear; additional PPE may be required based on job duties.
