Description

Role Summary

The Global Launch Activation Lead is the global capability leader accountable for translating portfolio, brand, and launch priorities established by Marketing, Launch Excellence, and Medical partners into integrated training content, capability activation, and field-readiness plans. The role leads ICET's launch activation portfolio, aligning content development, applied learning, coaching resources, reinforcement, and performance support to prepare customer-facing colleagues to execute launch priorities with confidence and consistency.

Operating across global and regional markets, the Director establishes the integrated view of launch capability demand, identifies sequencing and capacity risks, recommends portfolio trade-offs, and governs ICET's launch content activation approach. The role applies established capability architecture and launch-readiness requirements rather than defining brand, medical, launch, or enterprise learning strategy.

The role does not own brand strategy, launch strategy, medical strategy, capability architecture, or training delivery. Those responsibilities remain with the appropriate Brand, Medical, Launch Excellence, Capability Architecture, GCET Delivery, and market teams. The Global Launch Activation Lead connects these inputs to ICET's content and capability remit, ensuring scalable, compliant, market-adaptable solutions are developed and transitioned effectively to delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ICET's global launch activation portfolio, translating business, brand, medical, and launch-readiness requirements into integrated training content and capability activation plans.
  • Establish the enterprise view of launch capability demand, identifying portfolio dependencies, capacity constraints, sequencing risks, and opportunities for reuse across therapeutic areas and markets.
  • Recommend launch activation priorities and trade-offs to ICET, GCET, and launch leadership, making decisions within the role's authority and escalating choices requiring broader enterprise alignment.
  • Serve as ICET's strategic launch activation partner to Commercial Excellence Partners, Brand Teams, Medical, Launch Excellence, Regional Teams, Capability Architecture, and GCET Delivery.
  • Govern the launch content activation approach, integrating disease-state, product, competitive, applied-skill, coaching, reinforcement, and performance-support content into a coherent field-readiness journey.
  • Apply established capability and learning architecture to launch activation, ensuring training experiences move customer-facing colleagues from awareness and knowledge to application, coaching, reinforcement, and confident execution.
  • Set requirements for modularity, reuse, localization, and AI-enabled content development, enabling launch assets to scale efficiently across markets while preserving quality, compliance, and brand fidelity.
  • Define ICET launch capability measures, including content completion and availability, training readiness, adoption, confidence, application, and reinforcement indicators.
  • Partner with Launch Excellence and business stakeholders to connect training and capability indicators with broader launch-readiness and business-outcome measures without assuming ownership of launch effectiveness.
  • Lead launch-related content governance and cross-functional issue resolution, surfacing risks, clarifying decision owners, and preventing duplication, misalignment, and downstream rework.
  • Oversee external partners supporting launch content and capability activation, establishing expectations for quality, speed, scalability, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure approved content and activation plans are transitioned effectively to GCET and market delivery teams, with clear requirements, timing, readiness checkpoints, and feedback loops.
  • Advise senior leaders on launch capability readiness, presenting portfolio-level insights, risks, resource implications, and recommended actions.
  • Shape and continuously improve ICET's launch activation operating model, codifying repeatable practices and lessons that strengthen execution across the global launch portfolio.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant and progressive work experience in pharmaceutical or biopharma commercial capability, learning and development, sales training, or launch excellence roles, including demonstrated cross-functional leadership across matrixed teams.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or leading training content, applied learning, or capability activation programs supporting a product launch, at a national or global scale.
  • Working fluency in capability and learning architecture — how content, applied learning, coaching, and reinforcement combine to build field proficiency — with experience applying an established architecture rather than designing one from scratch.
  • Proven ability to translate business, brand, and launch-readiness requirements into executable training content and activation plans, working fluently with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Medical, and Regional organizations.
  • Experience managing competing priorities across a portfolio of concurrent initiatives, with a track record of structured governance, prioritization, and decision-making under ambiguity.
  • Strong track record partnering with or overseeing external vendors and agencies delivering training content, learning, or activation solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA or related) preferred.
  • Direct experience within a global commercial capability, launch excellence, or content/learning center of excellence function, ideally within GCET or an equivalent enterprise capability organization.
  • Background in instructional design, learning experience design, or a related capability-building discipline.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled content generation, content-reuse platforms, or modern learning ecosystems, with experience embedding these into scaled operating models.
  • Experience designing or applying readiness and adoption measurement frameworks that link capability investment to launch performance and commercial outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of Medical, Legal, and Regulatory review requirements as they apply to commercial content and field-facing materials.
  • Experience operating across international markets and time zones, with cultural fluency in adapting global activation approach to regional execution realities.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in a standard office or remote/hybrid environment, including extended periods of computer-based work, virtual meetings, and cross-time-zone collaboration.
  • Ability to synthesize complex, ambiguous, and sometimes conflicting inputs from multiple senior stakeholders into clear strategic direction under time pressure.
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively at senior and executive levels, both in writing and in live or virtual presentation settings.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Global role requiring flexibility to accommodate meetings and deliverables across multiple time zones, including periodic early morning or evening engagements with international markets.
  • Domestic and international travel required, estimated at approximately 15-25%, to support launch activation planning, market engagement, and cross-functional working sessions.
  • Periods of heightened intensity around major launch milestones may require adjusted availability to support time-sensitive activation decisions.
