Description
The Director of Strategic Growth will lead Anika Systems’ efforts to expand its footprint and capture new business within the National Security (DHS, DOJ and DoS) and federal civilian (Commerce, FDIC, SEC) sectors. This is a hands-on leadership position and will be responsible for shaping and executing the company’s business development strategy. You will be responsible for managing key client relationships and driving growth through successful government contract pursuits. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in federal contracting, a strong understanding of the unique needs of these sectors, and a proven track record of building relationships with decision-makers in federal agencies.
Must Have Experience: We are looking for an individual who has worked in the qualification, win strategy, capture, and support of proposal development activities. Must have experience leading successful pursuits in the areas of: Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Automation, Data Science, Digital Transformation, and Cloud.
Preferred Experience: We are looking for an individual who has a track record of capturing and bidding opportunities across National Security and federal civilian sectors in areas of Databricks and ServiceNow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic business development plan focused on identifying and capturing new opportunities within : National Security (DHS, DOJ, DoS) and federal civilian (Commerce, FDIC, SEC).
- Identify & Capture New Opportunities: Lead efforts to identify new business opportunities and qualifications for contracts in the federal marketplace. Leverage existing Anika contracting vehicles, GWAC (OASIS, Polaris) and IDIQ’s to qualify and bid task orders.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and nurture relationships with key decision-makers across : National Security (DHS, DOJ, DoS) and federal civilian (Commerce, FDIC, SEC) agencies.
- Proposal and Capture Management: Capture Management: Partner with the Vice President of Capture and Proposals to support the efforts for the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals that align with agency needs.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor and assess industry trends, government priorities, and competitor activities to position Anika Systems strategically in the federal marketplace. Provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership to inform business decisions.
- Networking & Industry Engagement: Represent Anika Systems at key industry events, conferences, and networking forums. Actively engage with potential clients, prime contractors, and industry partners to expand Anika’s visibility and opportunities.
- Executive Collaboration: Work closely with the COO and other senior leaders to align business development efforts with company objectives, ensuring cohesive and integrated growth strategies across all lines of business.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all business development efforts are compliant with federal procurement regulations (FAR, DFARS), as well as industry best practices for federal contracting.
- Experience: 10 years of total experience with 8+ years of business development experience in the federal contracting space, with a focus on National Security, and federal civilian agencies.
- Must be local to the DMV area.
- Sector Expertise: Knowledge of challenges and procurement needs across the following agencies: National Security (DHS, DOJ, DoS) and federal civilian (Commerce, FDIC, SEC) agencies
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in capturing and winning opportunities for outcome-driven technology consulting firm that partners with federal agencies to solve complex business challenges and prepare for the future.
- Network: Established and well-maintained relationships with key stakeholders in federal agencies, including program managers, contracting officers, and decision-makers.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to develop and execute long-term growth strategies while balancing immediate business development goals. Analytical mindset with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
- Leadership: Experience in leading and mentoring teams, with a track record of motivating staff, managing complex projects, and driving results in a collaborative environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Government, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Expertise in federal procurement regulations (FAR, DFARS) and knowledge of the regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Exceptional ability to build and maintain client relationships in the federal government.
- High level of initiative, with a self-starter attitude and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving federal contracting environment.
