Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide both basic and complex operational support for Claim Counsel team administration.
- Open new Claim Counsel matters, update claim system, and obtain and provide documents to outside counsel.
- Accurately and timely track and process payment of outside counsel direct bills and settlement payments while adhering to company requirements.
- Update electronic file to ensure proper coding for reporting purposes.
- Identify litigation hold recipients, draft and issue document preservation notices, track acknowledgments and issue releases.
- Oversee the closing of matters in claim system and obtain and file required documentation.
- Maintain list of active outside coverage counsel.
- Perform administrative tasks to assist with litigation hold and subpoena processes.
- Track receipt of and response to time-sensitive pre-suit statutory claim notices to Company.
- Update and maintain various spreadsheets and lists utilized by team.
- Responsible for maintaining current corporate disclosure notices.
- Provide administrative support for updating, maintaining, and distributing reports and lists.
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations with content provided by team members.
- Provide administrative support for team newsletter.
- Assist team members with processing employee expense reports.
- Assist in other projects as needed.
Education & Experience
Typically requires a high school diploma
2+ years of related experience, preferably in insurance or litigation
[OR] equivalent level of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with counsel, co-workers and management.
- Must be proficient with computers and technology with the ability to readily adapt to software systems and applications.
- Proficient in MS 365 applications, especially Excel, and data management.
- Adept at electronic file/data transfer.
- Provide creative solutions to administration and management of Claim Counsel team.
- Must be detail-oriented and practice good organizational skills.
- Ability to follow procedures as outlined by management.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform quality work while meeting processing deadlines with minimal oversight.
Compensation Overview
The base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future.
