Position Summary

 

The Regional Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and general maintenance activities on mechanical equipment and associated building systems across Carle Health facilities. This versatile position requires a skilled maintenance professional who can support a wide range of facility needs, including mechanical maintenance, minor electrical work, light carpentry, furniture installation, and facility relocations.

 

The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on problem solver who enjoys performing a variety of maintenance tasks and responding to facility needs in a healthcare environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on mechanical equipment and building systems.
  • Utilize electronic work order and maintenance management systems to document work performed, update task status, and track maintenance activities.
  • Conduct assigned preventative maintenance inspections and document findings.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct mechanical deficiencies and equipment malfunctions.
  • Respond to emergency facility situations including power failures, water leaks, equipment breakdowns, and other urgent maintenance issues.
  • Identify and perform minor electrical repairs within scope of training and qualifications.
  • Detect structural, roofing, and general carpentry issues and either correct them or coordinate repairs with appropriate trades.
  • Move and install furniture, cabinetry, equipment, shelving, pictures, whiteboards, and related fixtures.
  • Perform light carpentry duties such as repairs, installations, and modifications to facility structures and furnishings.
  • Coordinate and plan relocations of personnel, furniture, and equipment within facilities.
  • Assist Facilities Mechanics III, IV, and Lead Mechanics with maintenance projects and repairs as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all applicable safety regulations and policies.
  • Support facility operations by performing all essential duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic I position.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Collaborate with facility staff and vendors to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience in facility maintenance, mechanical repair, building maintenance, or a related skilled trade preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, preventative maintenance practices, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with carpentry, furniture installation, and general facility repairs preferred.
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between regional facilities, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of building systems, equipment maintenance, and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety practices.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move furniture, equipment, and supplies.

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is $20.59per hour - $34.39per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
