Qualification: B.E/B.Tech/MS/M.Tech or equivalent in CS/EEE/ECE
About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Staff Software Systems Engineer – Technical Lead to drive the development of our Network Automation and Orchestration products. In this strategic technical leadership role, you will own the end-to-end design and development of cloud networking solutions, mentor technical teams, and establish best-in-class engineering practices. Your expertise in microservices, containerization, and cloud-native development will be instrumental in shaping the future of Extreme's cloud networking platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Technically lead the team of professionals to deliver Network Automation and Orchestration products
- Own the overall design and development artifacts including functional and design specifications, code, and unit/integration test cases
- Introduce and passionately drive the implementation of best-in-class engineering practices such as Test-Driven Development and Design Principles
- Develop Epics, Stories, and Tasks for execution and collaborate across teams for complete solution integration
- Establish technical standards and mentor team members in adherence to best practices
- Drive architectural decisions and technical implementations for scalable, maintainable solutions
Required Skills and Expertise
Core Competencies
- Complete exposure to the entire Product Life Cycle (MUST HAVE)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in local and remote debugging
Architecture and Design
- Microservices-based architecture and best practices
- Hands-on experience with Docker containers, Kubernetes (K8s, K3s) clusters, and Helm charts
- Exposure to cloud application development
- Sound data and information modeling techniques using YANG, UML, JSON, and related tools
Programming and Development
- Strong coding and debugging experience with Java or Golang
- Linux OS proficiency, advanced data structures, and IPC mechanisms
- Intricate understanding of multi-threading, routines, network programming, and object-oriented methodologies
- Agile Development Model with CI/CD, Jenkins pipeline, and Git environment
Data Management and Messaging
- Database concepts and deployment models: RDBMS, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MariaDB
- Messaging services such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
- Working experience with webhook and web sockets
Networking and Protocols
- OpenAPI, OpenConfig, NETCONF, Streaming Telemetry, GNMI, gRPC, and XMPP
- Knowledge of L2/L3 OSI layer protocols: 802.1Q, LAGs, VxLAN, EVPN, ACLs, Route Policy, MPLS/VPLS, BGP, L2 Forwarding, and L3 Routing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with network orchestration platforms and automation frameworks
- Background in building scalable, highly available distributed systems
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical teams
- Familiarity with containerized deployment architectures and orchestration platforms
- Prior experience with telemetry and streaming analytics
