Aviation is a global business operating in 55 countries within 4 global regions, safely providing fuel to over 200 operated sites and over 200 NOJVs. Our frontline operations can vary from a team of ~60 at a major airport through to a team of 2 at a general aviation site, and can be located in major cities through to very remote locations globally.
This role exists to ensure the consistent delivery of strategic business projects across Downstream Aviation Marketing, Strategy & Sustainability, with a particular focus on Business Excellence. The Strategic Project Delivery Manager partners closely with global business leaders, cross-functional teams and vendor partners to define the right delivery approach, maintain disciplined governance and ensure projects translate strategic priorities into measurable business outcomes.
The role requires a strong understanding of the bp and Aviation business, with the ability to structure and deliver practical business excellence solutions such as standardised ways of working, templates, process improvements, automation opportunities and fit-for-purpose technology enablement. The role applies appropriate project delivery, continuous improvement and change adoption practices to embed sustainable benefits for MS&S and the wider global Aviation business.
Key Accountabilities-
Leading Strategic Project Delivery for Business Excellence
Lead and mentor diverse set of project and process leads, ensuring alignment and readiness with strategic priorities and effective execution of transformation initiatives and setup of robust processes with day 1 dashboards
Leading Strategic Programs and Projects
Lead the development of a shared, scalable contract management capability across C&P, standardising processes, tools and governance to improve visibility, compliance, renewal management, deliverable tracking and value realisation.
Lead the implementation and ongoing management of contract lifecycle policies, procedures and templates, ensuring effective rollout, adoption and support for Contract Analysts
Translate Aviation strategic priorities into well-scoped projects with clear business outcomes, delivery milestones, accountabilities, risks and benefits tracking.
Provide strategic input into transformation roadmaps in collaboration with business stakeholders, Transformation Directors, and Global Process Owners (GPOs) as the case maybe
Drive consistent approaches to blueprinting, solution design, process optimisation and transition to BAU by using standardised project tools, methodologies and best practices.
Oversee delivery of key strategic projects and programmes, ensuring alignment with Aviation Business Excellence priorities and the wider MS&S agenda.
Maintain strong financial discipline by managing budgets effectively and ensuring tight control over project costs, resource allocation and value delivery.
Build and sustain strong stakeholder partnerships across regions, functions and partners to enable proactive delivery, informed decision-making and effective adoption.
Conduct internal reviews to assess project risks, delivery quality and compliance with agreed project management standards, ensuring timely resolution of gaps.

Ensure clear alignment between strategic objectives, project execution and continuous improvement initiatives.
Secure appropriate business sponsorship, funding and resource commitment to enable successful delivery.
Clearly define and communicate value drivers for each project, extending beyond cost savings to broader business, customer, control and efficiency benefits.
Effectively handle competing priorities and project demands within and across the global Aviation business.
Scope of the role –
This role is centred on global Aviation MS&S business operations, with a strong emphasis on Business Excellence, integrated working and delivery across globally dispersed teams.
Projects may intersect with ongoing programmes, presenting complexities related to funding, governance, prioritisation and ways of working.
Demonstrated financial acumen through delivery of value-led projects and focused benefits tracking.
Strong relationship-building is critical, requiring close collaboration across Business, FBT and BTC locations, cross-functional teams and business leaders.
Flexibility is needed to accommodate global meetings and varying time zones.
Curiosity and willingness to learn, with a pragmatic focus on simplification, standardisation and sustainable adoption.
Qualification & Experience –
Essential Education
Master’s Degree or equivalent experience mandatory with MBA preferred
PMP trained or equivalent Project Management certification or experience would be an advantage
Six Sigma trained, tested or equivalent
Essential Experience
Significant programme or project management experience, with a track record of managing sizeable strategic project portfolios, portfolio governance and appropriate execution and reporting toolsets.
Prior experience with any of the Big4 would be an advantage
Experience and comprehensive understanding of Contracts (MSA, SOW, CORF, JV etc.)
Demonstrated experience operating as a second-line (skip-level) leader, managing through team leads/managers, individual contributors and driving outcomes across a multi-layered organization
Proven track record managing multiple global collaborators effectively
Experience working across multiple industries and functional domains
Experience managing virtual teams across multiple geographies
Strong commercial foresight and understanding of customer impacts with proven track record
Experience of working in fast-paced, high-demand, delivery-orinted environments
Demonstrable experience with project management tools and applications (e.g. Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, etc.) as well as experience with Copilot, ChatGPT etc.
Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels of the organisation
Desirable Criteria
Experience of third-party, vendor, managed services or business excellence project execution across multiple industries.
Experience managing global operations working with collaborators from multiple geographies
Experience managing delivery of cases by monitoring costs and value delivered and intervening with corrective action when necessary to achieve commercial outcomes
