Description
JOB SUMMARY
This is a Part Time position with the City’s Senior Citizens Center and will be responsible for assisting in the delivery and supervision of Senior programs and activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- General office duties, including answering telephones, dispensing Senior Center information, etc.
- Supervise participants and enforce all program policies during activities.
- Complete attendance records and other reports in a timely manner.
- Supervise facility rentals and other Senior Center activities as needed.
- Assist in the development, promotion, implementation and evaluation of activities, including ability to lift and setup lightweight tables, chairs, etc.
- Exercise extreme safety precautions at all times. Inspect all equipment, supplies and site area prior to program/activity implementation.
- At the program/activity’s conclusion, return supplies, equipment and other materials to their appropriate locations.
- Responsible for cleaning Senior Center equipment and supplies as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Leadership and public relations skills.
- Decision making skills.
Ability to:
- Provide supervised leisure experiences to participants.
- Assure a safe and wholesome leisure environment.
- Work flexible 20-hour work schedule.
Experience and Education: Any combination equivalent to the level of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities will qualify.
Experience:
- Experience working with Senior Citizens preferred.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Possession of a valid Class “C” Driver License required.
- Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid within three (3) months of employment.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
The essential duties of this position are performed indoors in a recreational facility setting. Incumbents assigned to this position must be physically capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing a minimum of 30lbs without assistance on a daily basis. Incumbents assigned to this position must be physically capable of using both vision and hearing during the performance of assigned duties in order to identify and evaluate emergencies. Incumbents assigned to this position must also be physically able to respond to such emergencies as appropriate. Additionally, incumbents assigned to this position must be physically capable of bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching above shoulder height in order to perform daily duties. The duties of this position require that the incumbent be available to work a flexible schedule.
