Purpose and Impact
Our story is about more than great beverages. It is about people, pride, and progress. As a Compensation Analyst, you will lead and support compensation and total rewards programs that enable fair, competitive, and compliant pay practices across the organization. Through market analysis, job evaluation, reporting, and program administration, you will provide data-driven insights and recommendations that help attract, retain, and reward talent while keeping Sleeman at the forefront of the industry.
Responsibilities
Compensation Programs and Administration
- Facilitate cyclical Total Rewards processes, including year-end activities such as performance reviews, incentive payouts, salary adjustments, and Total Rewards statements.
- Conduct annual market competitiveness reviews and recommend pay band adjustments based on market data. Identify compensation anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide salary and ad hoc bonus recommendations for specialized situations outside established compensation guidelines, including secondments, promotions, and out-of-cycle salary adjustments.
- Support the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of compensation policies, programs, and practices.
- Ensure compensation programs comply with applicable legislation and organizational policies.
- Support the implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion related compensation initiatives.
- Research, recommend, and implement compensation-related policies, programs, and process improvements.
- Maintain current knowledge of compensation, Total Rewards, market trends, best practices, and legislative developments.
Market Analysis, Reporting, and Analytics
- Participate in third-party compensation benchmarking surveys by validating benchmark data, collaborating with survey providers, and ensuring data accuracy.
- Conduct and participate in compensation and salary surveys, analyze results, interpret market data, and provide recommendations.
- Research and recommend survey providers and benchmarking resources to strengthen market intelligence and data quality.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance compensation and Total Rewards scorecards, metrics, and reporting.
- Validate data integrity and reporting parameters to ensure accuracy and reliability of analysis.
- Prepare and distribute monthly reports from Workday and other systems for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Payroll to complete monthly bonus accrual activities.
- Provide analytical support for compensation programs, policies, collective bargaining activities, and business initiatives.
Job Evaluation and Position Management
- Conduct job analysis and prepare, revise, and maintain job descriptions that accurately reflect role accountabilities and organizational standards.
- Participate as a member of the Job Evaluation Committee by conducting interim evaluations and presenting job ratings and recommendations.
- Maintain job description standards and ensure consistency across the organization.
- Manage the position control system, including job code administration, benchmark position identification, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain compensation-related records, procedures, and documentation to support effective governance and audit readiness.
Business Partnership and Projects
- Partner with Human Resources Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, leaders, and other stakeholders to provide compensation expertise, guidance, and recommendations.
- Respond to compensation-related inquiries and support hiring, promotion, and organizational design decisions.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in compensation and Total Rewards projects and lead assigned workstreams and initiatives.
- Support pay equity analysis and implementation activities to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and organizational commitments.
Skills and Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in compensation, Total Rewards, Human Resources analytics, or a related field.
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Compensation Professional or Certified Human Resources Professional designation, or actively working toward completion.
- Strong knowledge of compensation administration principles, methodologies, and market benchmarking practices.
- Understanding of applicable employment, compensation, pay equity, and labour legislation.
- Experience conducting job evaluations, job analysis, and job description development.
- Experience interpreting, analyzing, and presenting compensation data and recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Human Resources Information Systems, and databases.
- Ability to develop reports, dashboards, scorecards, and metrics using large data sets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and data integrity.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information to diverse audiences. Ability to communicate in French and English considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to accuracy, process improvement, and service excellence.
Please note - the successful candidate may be located in either Guelph, ON or Montreal, QC. This is a hybrid position - 2 days in office.
