DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY: $80,000-$85,000

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for Operations Manager. Under general supervision of the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager is responsible for the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the facilities and the events by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate team members.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Director in managing all aspects of operations including event conversion, building and grounds maintenance, audio/visual services, ice maintenance, seat maintenance, painting, carpentry, event ops staffing, chair and table setups.
  • Manage full time union operations staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assisting in any capital expenditure projects for the building.
  • Ensure the ice is prepared for all practices, games, and other ice events.
  • Ensure all athletic operations within the venue are ready for all games and practices in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate operations activities with other building departments and contractors.
  • Implement and train staff on all laws, codes, ordinances, policies that conform to corporate standards, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations, and emergency procedures.
  • Review quantity and quality of work performed.
  • Anticipate and investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints.
  • Act as a liaison with tenants, contractors, and facility users as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory. Order all necessary supplies and materials.
  • Report irregularities, discrepancies, damage or loss of property or any other safety concerns to Director.
  • Daily payroll functions include timesheet approval, entering employees into the timeclock and data entry into the payroll system in a timely manner.
  • Manage personnel and perform various duties to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the facility are met. These include but are not limited to loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash to proper disposal areas, and maintaining the buildings overall appearance.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess skills and experience in supervising/training personnel, scheduling, time management, and purchasing procedures.
  • Engage in decision-making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy. Communicate through verbal, email or written means to supervisors, managers and upper management.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set-up and conversions; typical methods and techniques for cleaning and maintaining equipment; and proper use and care of hand and power tools.
  • Preferred knowledge in the practice and procedures related to hockey installation preparation and maintenance; typical methods techniques for maintaining, repairing and building ice.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and other related materials.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Preferred licenses: certificates or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operations of the equipment found in the facility (i.e., forklift, HVAC, electrical and plumbing)
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. BS or BA in Business Administration and/or Management; Facility or Property Management or other closely related field preferred. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/ or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
  • High School diploma or GED, and five (5) years' experience and/or training in the public assembly facility industry in a supervisory or management position; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision over work of full time and part time employees.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • General ability to operate computer using Windows, Office, and other standard office equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires stooping and lifting, substantial walking and manual dexterity. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, scrubbing machines or other light power-driven equipment.
  • This position requires work inside and outside of the building and some exposure to adverse conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires some travel.
