Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or a related field..
Licenses and Certificates: Must be enrolled in a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) approved Architectural Experience Program (AXP) within first month following appointment. Must maintain AXP enrollment during course of employment or until licensed.
Under general supervision, assist in the preparation and coordination of architectural and public works projects.
Assist in the review and coordination of architectural and public works projects. Involves: Conduct preliminary review of architectural designs for construction and renovation projects. Review plans and specifications prepared by staff and consultants for design problems, construction issues and compliance to standards. Prepare and evaluate building spatial designs and plans. Review construction projects and coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical and landscaping designs. Conduct pre- and post-construction field observations. Prepare architectural floor plans. Research applicable building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations and other pertinent ordinances. Prepare graphic drawings for presentation. Utilize computer design software, equipment and drafting systems. Meet with City officials and interested parties to move a project to completion. Evaluate construction equipment, materials, time, cost estimates and installation criteria for construction or renovation of public buildings. Prepare technical reports and maintain records.
