Xylem is a Fortune 500 global water solutions company dedicated to advancing sustainable impact and empowering the people who make water work every day. As a leading water technology company with 23,000 employees operating in over 150 countries, Xylem is at the forefront of addressing the world's most critical water challenges. We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.
We are seeking a highly motivated Key Account Manager – Water Infrastructure to drive sales growth across the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast region, with a strong focus on the municipal and water utilities sector.
In this customer-facing sales role, you will be responsible for developing strategic relationships, identifying and converting new business opportunities, and growing market share across Xylem's Water Infrastructure portfolio. Working closely with the Regional Sales Leader and broader sales team, you will develop and execute account strategies that deliver sustainable revenue growth, profitability, pipeline generation, customer retention, and long-term business partnerships.
Success in this role will come from your ability to influence stakeholders, uncover customer challenges, and position Xylem as a trusted solutions partner. While a mechanical engineering background and pump industry experience are highly regarded, we are equally interested in candidates with strong sales capability, commercial acumen, and a proven track record of building customer relationships and delivering growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to achieve revenue, profitability, market share and customer retention targets.
- Manage, grow and strengthen relationships with key municipal, utility and infrastructure customers across the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast region.
- Identify, qualify and convert new business opportunities, infrastructure projects, tenders and capital works programs to build a healthy sales pipeline.
- Engage with customers to understand their operational challenges and present tailored Xylem solutions that deliver value and long-term outcomes.
- Drive sales across the full Water Infrastructure portfolio, including equipment, services, spare parts, preventative maintenance agreements and lifecycle solutions.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and opportunity plans while providing regular market and competitor intelligence.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, service, applications and project delivery teams to develop winning customer solutions.
- Represent Xylem professionally in the market and maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and training requirements.
Skills and Experience
- Proven success in a business development, account management or technical sales role, with a strong focus on achieving growth and customer retention outcomes.
- Sales experience within the water, utilities, infrastructure, industrial, engineering or related sectors will be highly regarded.
- A mechanical engineering background or tertiary engineering qualification is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience with pumping systems, pump applications or related water infrastructure products is preferred; however, candidates with strong sales capability and a willingness to develop technical product knowledge are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in sales, business development or account management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop sales plans, build opportunity pipelines and successfully manage complex sales cycles.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and deliver value-based solutions.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with customers and key stakeholders at multiple levels of an organisation.
- Highly self-motivated, resilient and results-focused, with strong communication, presentation and influencing skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business, sales, marketing or a related discipline are highly desirable.
