Overview

The Microbiology Laboratory Analyst supports the Global 3C Program by performing accurate microbiological testing and reporting of beverage samples for trade, line qualifications, innovation projects, troubleshooting activities, and other customer requirements. This role ensures all testing activities are conducted in compliance with PepsiCo global standards, ISO 17025:2017 requirements, and Good Laboratory Practices.

 

The position is responsible for laboratory sample management through the StarLIMS system, including maintaining formulation master data, specifications, and sample workflows. The analyst prepares laboratory reagents, solutions, and controls; reviews and interprets test results; supports method validations and investigations; and contributes to the generation of quality control data, trends, and reporting metrics.

 

Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the role supports micro and analytical testing operations, laboratory accreditation activities, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence while contributing to the strategic development of the Cork FSQA Microbiology Laboratory.

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform microbiological analysis and reporting of beverage samples in accordance with PepsiCo procedures and quality standards.
  • Prepare laboratory solutions, reagents, controls, and other materials required for routine testing.
  • Support and maintain StarLIMS through formulation master data management, sample tracking, and specification maintenance.
  • Review, interpret, and communicate laboratory test results.
  • Conduct test method investigations, validations, and accreditation-related activities as required.
  • Develop and maintain reference files, quality control charts, and laboratory data trending tools.
  • Participate in proficiency testing programs and ensure timely follow-up on results and corrective actions.
  • Utilize laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and business reporting tools effectively.
  • Monitor and report laboratory metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 17025:2017, A2LA requirements, and Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety policies, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and site procedures.
  • Contribute to laboratory strategy, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional project teams within the Cork FSQA Microbiology Laboratory.

Qualifications

  • Microbiological/Analytical Chemistry/Nutritional Science/Food Science/ Technology qualification to BSc degree level as a minimum requirement
  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience required, with comprehensive knowledge of microbiology and demonstrated experience in microbiological testing, general laboratory instrumentation, data analysis, and statistical evaluation of results.
