Facilities Assistant ESMJob Description
An excellent opportunity is available for a Facilities Assistant (ESM) to join the Services and Infrastructure Department at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
About the Position
This is a hands-on Facilities Management (FM) role responsible for coordinating Essential Safety Measure (ESM) activities and participating in designated preventative maintenance programs within a medical research organisation to enable regulatory inspections, certifications and associated tasks in a timely and compliant manner.
Beyond compliance, the role involves facilities maintenance tasks, including providing support to technicians, material handling, using equipment like forklifts/EWPs, managing contractors, and assisting with directed project tasks.
Reporting to the Parkville Maintenance Supervisor, and working collaboratively with FM technicians and engineers, the successful candidate must possess excellent rapport building and communication skills and the diligence required to effectively resolve issues, offering a long-term career opportunity within an esteemed global institution.
Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Hold relevant qualifications, experience and skillsets.
Ability to apply education and training to conduct non-technical maintenance activities.
Demonstrated capability to learn software systems for general activities including purchasing, asset maintenance, building management system, employee management etc.
Demonstrated capability to comply with policy and guidelines through performing documented procedural process, including asset disposal and laboratory cleaning.
Willingness to undertake forklift training arranged by WEHI as required.
Desirable skills:
Experience in MS-Suite particularly Word, XL, Office 365 email and calendar
Experience with elevated work platform (EWP)
Forklift truck licence

Proven organisational skills that demonstrate the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to requests in a timely manner while paying careful attention to detail
Demonstrated initiative to develop solutions to problems or challenges that emerge

Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders in a positive and productive manner.
Terms of Appointment
This position is an ongoing role in a full time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 4 ($78,121 - $82,911). Very attractive salary packaging options are available for general living expenses, meal entertainment, novated leasing and more. 12% superannuation payable, plus up to a further 5% after the first 6 months of service via our matching superannuation scheme.
