  • Work Environment: On-site, five days a week in Burns Harbor, Indiana

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support end-to-end data replication pipelines across:

    • IMS (z/OS) → IBM CDC → SQL Server → cloud platforms

  • Deploy database and application changes into Production environments

  • Administer and support:

    • SQL Server replication

    • IBM InfoSphere CDC (IDR) replication processes

  • Analyze and implement schema and structural changes across systems

  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and synchronization across all environments

  • Troubleshoot and resolve replication failures and performance issues

  • Build and maintain SQL Server database links across environments

Operational Ownership

  • Assume full responsibility for an existing, production-critical environment

  • Operate with minimal oversight, using existing documentation and knowledge transfer inputs

  • Maintain and enhance process documentation and runbooks for repeatable operations

Critical Complexity (Core of the Role)

The most complex responsibility involves managing schema-level changes originating in IMS systems, which must propagate through multiple layers:

  • IMS table/structure changes

  • IBM CDC replication configuration updates

  • SQL Server replication changes

  • Downstream cloud data impacts

These changes require coordinated updates across all environments and replication processes, with high risk of data inconsistency if not properly executed.

Required Technical Skills

Core Database Platforms

  • SQL Server (strong experience, including replication)

  • Oracle database knowledge

  • IMS (z/OS) – functional familiarity

Replication Technologies

  • IBM InfoSphere CDC (IDR) Replication

  • SQL Server Replication (transactional/merge/snapshot)

  • Multi-hop replication architectures

Languages

  • T-SQL

  • SQL*Plus

Tools

  • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

  • IBM IDR Management Console (Windows)

  • Toad / SQL Developer

  • ServiceNow

  • Notepad++ or equivalent for the file text searches

  • IBM Infosphere Classic Data Architect.

Operating Systems

  • Linux tools (via PuTTY or equivalent)

  • Windows server tools

Additional Capabilities

  • Building SQL Server DB links across environments

  • Understanding cross-platform data flows (mainframe → distributed → cloud)

Candidate Profile

  • Senior-level hands-on replication engineer / DBA hybrid (L9 expectation)

  • Able to independently take over responsibilities from a transitioning resource

  • Comfortable working in a low-oversight, high-accountability environment

  • Strong ownership mindset for single-threaded, client-critical functions

  • Able to quickly understand and operate within an existing, mature environment

  • Detail-oriented with strong awareness of cross-system change impacts

  • Capable of working with limited SME backup and evolving documentation

Success Profile

The ideal candidate will:

  • Maintain stable, reliable replication operations

  • Execute changes with precision across interconnected systems

  • Reduce dependency on individual knowledge by improving documentation and repeatability

  • Provide continuity of service following the retirement of a key resource

Work Environment:

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
