JOB SUMMARY
This is an advanced intern position responsible for administrative support to the Director of Community Development as well as other members of the department. The work requires maturity and extensive knowledge of office procedures and equipment, current software programs, and City of Conroe and department policies and procedures. This position must be able to perform multiple tasks with numerous interruptions. Flexibility and the ability to quickly learn and project needed resources are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or two years of related experience with a municipality or public entity. Preference for post-secondary vocational office/business training or coursework in public or business administration, computer systems, information management or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skill in the use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, familiarity with post award grant management, bookkeeping and related practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
