The Role
The Assistant Accountant plays a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, supporting operations across the Aman Retail Brand. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role responsible for supporting financial processes across multiple legal entities. You will work closely with the Director of Finance and Finance Manager to help develop the finance function and drive efficiencies across existing processes.
Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable: Post invoices, process payments, address supplier queries, maintain accurate records for advance payments, and manage aged creditors reconciliation.
- Accounts Receivable: Issue sales invoices across entities, maintain clear records, and communicate with customers to ensure accurate billing.
- Credit Control: Reconcile, collect, and clear aged debtors in a timely manner; assist the operations team with invoice processing.
- Banking: Maintain accurate banking records and regularly reconcile bank accounts in multiple currencies.
- Reconciliations: Provide assistance to reconcile e-commerce orders with cash receipts.
- Audit Support: Provide assistance in the year-end audit process with external auditors.
- Month-End Closing: Support monthly close processes, including bookkeeping for multiple entities, journal preparation, monthly financial reports, intercompany reconciliations, and cash flow management.
- VAT Returns: Assist with VAT return preparation.
- Systems Implementation: Assist in rolling out SAP accounting system and drive efficiency initiatives across the organisation.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities within the Retail organisation.
- Office Administration: Contribute to office administrative tasks as required.
Requirements
Proven experience in bookkeeping, general ledger management, month-end reporting, and VAT
Accounting qualification or currently studying towards ACCA (desirable)
Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-entity finance environment
Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
Experience working with multi-currency transactions (essential)
Proficiency in accounting systems such as Xero or SAP (preferred)
Retail industry experience, including stock and import/export exposure (preferred)
Intermediate to strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills (essential)
