Job Overview
The Quality Inspector II is responsible for performing receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable industry standards. This role supports manufacturing operations by verifying product quality, documenting inspection results, and assisting in the resolution of non-conformances while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all products are properly packaged, labeled, and lot controlled.
- Verify products against purchase orders or packing slips for accuracy.
- Performs visual, dimensional, and functional inspection and testing according to documented policies and procedures.
- Maintain ISO standards of the products and ensure that there is proper handling of inspection tools.
- Maintain the QA incoming and first article database.
- Records inspection and test data as prescribed by written instructions and procedures.
- Operates all associated test and measurement equipment as instructed and as documented in procedures.
- Develop and maintain company inspection reports through the manufacturing process.
- Receive inventory records, process of receiving inspection documents and all other applicable documentation in coordination with the QA department.
- Reporting quality anomalies to the supervisor.
- Manage non-conforming components, ensuring relevant departments are informed and assisting in final resolution.
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
- Prepare non-conformance reports, as necessary.
- May prepare and submit change requests.
- Documents non-conformances in Non-Conforming Material Review system.
- May train other Inspectors.
- Assists in gathering, analyzing, and trending of data.
- Required to keep accurate records to ensure ISO compliance and to be prepare for regular ISO audits.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and facilitate material movement as needed.
- Ensure all inspection tools and workspaces are organized and compliant with safety protocols.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections, including receiving (purchased parts), in-process (internal and external parts), and final inspections (assemblies, sub-assemblies, and skids).
Qualifications
- Be able to interpret and extract necessary information per production travelers, CAD drawings (blueprints), CAD models, procedures, specifications, and industrial standards.
- Familiar with ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
- Proficient with measuring equipment (Faro/Romer Arm, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges) and able to interpret production travelers, blueprints, and specifications.
- Able to work in a fast pace, dynamic manufacturing, shop floor environment. Must be able to work independently and work effectively with other team members is a must.
- Working experience on several computer programs and databases (MS Office, Outlook, MRP, Engineering drawing database).
- Willing to learn and improve inspection skills to the next level.
- Working experience in pump, turbo expander industry and/or cryogenic industry is desirable but not required.
Experience and Education:
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree or vocational training in mechanical inspection, manufacturing technology or related field desirable; or equivalent combination of education and experience whereby requisite knowledge, skills and abilities have been demonstrated.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience inspecting materials and mechanical parts used in the manufacture of high-speed machinery such as turbines, turbo expanders, compressors, turbochargers, pumps, rotating machinery or related machinery.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provides an applicant with the listed knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job, may be accepted.
Work Environmental and Physical Demands:
To perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
- Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
- Job will generally be performed in an office/shop environment, but may require travel to the client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Candidates must be able to tolerate heights.
Environmental Safety Requirements
- New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness and Human Resource compliance
- All safety related training is provided and tracked by the Environmental Health & Safety Manager
- Job specific training modules deemed necessary by employee’s Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis
Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include, safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats and dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso Cryo safety requirements will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
