Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is seeking a dependable Unarmed Patrol Security Officer to provide overnight coverage in Provo. This position focuses on maintaining a secure and orderly environment through routine foot patrols, building lock-up procedures, and careful monitoring of parking and common areas.
The officer will work primarily during overnight hours and should be comfortable performing patrols independently, checking designated areas, and reporting conditions that require attention. Reliability, alertness, and the ability to follow established procedures are essential for this assignment.
Overnight Patrol Duties
- Conduct scheduled foot patrols throughout assigned areas during the overnight shift.
- Inspect stairwells, parking structures, entrances, walkways, and other designated locations.
- Watch for unauthorized activity, property concerns, safety hazards, or unusual conditions.
- Maintain a visible security presence while completing assigned patrol routes.
- Recheck designated areas as required throughout the shift.
- Report security or maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor or contact.
Building Lock-Up
- Complete building lock-up procedures according to established instructions.
- Check designated doors, entrances, and access points before securing the property.
- Confirm that assigned areas are properly secured at closing.
- Identify doors, gates, or other access points that cannot be secured and report them promptly.
- Follow all site-specific lock-up procedures and supervisor instructions.
- Maintain accurate records of completed closing and security checks.
Parking Structure & Stairwell Monitoring
- Conduct routine checks of parking structure levels and designated parking areas.
- Patrol stairwells and other less-traveled areas for unusual activity or safety concerns.
- Observe for unauthorized individuals, property damage, unsecured areas, or suspicious behavior.
- Report hazards such as blocked walkways, damaged lighting, or other conditions requiring attention.
- Maintain awareness of activity while completing foot patrols.
- Request additional assistance when a situation falls outside the scope of assigned duties.
Incident Response & Communication
- Respond appropriately to security concerns discovered during patrols.
- Notify supervisors of incidents, suspicious activity, safety issues, or property damage.
- Contact emergency responders when circumstances require immediate outside assistance.
- Remain calm and professional when addressing unexpected situations.
- Follow established emergency procedures and applicable company requirements.
- Provide clear information regarding incidents, locations, and actions taken.
Reporting & Documentation
- Complete required daily activity and patrol reports.
- Document building checks, lock-up procedures, and notable observations.
- Record incidents, property concerns, and unusual activity accurately.
- Use approved reporting methods and electronic systems when assigned.
- Communicate important information during supervisor check-ins or shift handoffs.
- Submit required documentation within established timeframes.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Active Guard Card.
- Minimum of 3 years of driving history.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work the scheduled overnight shift consistently.
- Strong observation and situational awareness skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and designated contacts.
- Ability to walk and remain on foot for extended periods during patrols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous unarmed security experience.
- Experience conducting overnight foot patrols.
- Familiarity with building lock-up or closing procedures.
- Experience monitoring parking structures, stairwells, or large properties.
- Familiarity with electronic security reporting systems.
- Previous experience identifying and documenting safety or security concerns.
