Responsibilities
The Copywriter is responsible for developing compelling, donor-focused content across all marketing channels to support blood donor recruitment, retention, and brand awareness. This role creates clear, engaging, and persuasive copy for a wide range of marketing assets, ensuring a consistent voice and message across all donor communications. Working collaboratively with Donor Outreach, Marketing Strategy, Creative Services, Digital, Social Media, and operational teams, the Copywriter translates business objectives into messaging that inspires action and supports organizational goals.
- Write, edit, and proofread copy for a variety of marketing channels, including email, SMS, advertising, social media, websites, direct mail, print collateral, signage, video scripts, and other marketing materials.
- Develop messaging that is clear, compelling, and aligned with organizational priorities, brand standards, and donor engagement objectives. Maintain a consistent tone of voice across all marketing communications while adapting messaging to different audiences, channels, and campaign goals.
- Partner with designers, marketers, and stakeholders to develop integrated marketing campaigns from concept through execution.
- Write compelling, audience-focused email copy that informs, engages, and inspires action.
- Develop high-performing subject lines, preview text, headlines, and calls to action.
- Produce timely content for both planned campaigns and urgent operational communications, including critical blood inventory appeals.
- Review and edit marketing content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with applicable policies and guidelines.
- Contribute to the evolution of messaging standards and brand voice.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related Experience:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of professional copywriting experience in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field.
- Experience developing content across multiple marketing channels, including email and text marketing, digital, and print.
- Experience collaborating with creative teams along with email and text outreach teams.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the requirements above that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed yearly salary is $85,000.00 p/yr to $95,000.00 p/yr.. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
