Director of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Transformation Technology

The Corporate Systems organization within Charles Schwab’s Technology organization is comprised of several teams that support the goals of Schwab’s internal corporate functions and employees through the delivery and maintenance of innovative technology solutions. The Corporate Systems organization will be working closely with Finance and HR business executives to evaluate, select, plan for, and deliver a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to consolidate and integrate various business processes across these functions. The Director of ERP Transformation Technology will lead all technology aspects of the multi-year ERP program, which will be one of Schwab’s largest transformational programs.

The Director of ERP Transformation Technology will partner closely with technology leadership and the business executives to transform the relevant business processes and deliver this critical business and technology solution. In doing so, the Director of ERP Transformation Technology will form and lead a team of high-performing technology resources to deliver and provide ongoing support of the ERP application.

This role requires an experienced enterprise technology leader who has built and led the strategy and delivery of large-scale, end-to-end ERP transformations within a comparably sized financial institution or another highly regulated enterprise. The leader will build and manage a team of full-time employees and provide long-term leadership continuity for this critical capability.

What you’ll do:

  • Define and execute the ERP technology strategy, target-state architecture, operating model, and multi-year roadmap that supports Schwab's Finance and Human Resources transformation objectives
  • Lead a multi-year enterprise transformation of Finance and HR capabilities through implementation of a new ERP platform, modern data foundation, AI-enabled capabilities, and future-state operating model
  • Attract, develop, and retain world-class technology talent while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Lead software vendor evaluation, selection, contract negotiations, implementation partner governance, and ongoing strategic vendor relationships.
  • Partner with Finance and HR executives to transform and modernize core business processes, data, controls, and operating models enabled through ERP capabilities and leading practices.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define and deliver the scope, approach, timelines, resource requirements, and major milestones to deliver the ERP program.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to drive organizational change management, business readiness, user adoption, and realization of transformation benefits throughout the ERP lifecycle.
  • Accountable for ERP architecture, integration strategy, data migration, master data management, security controls, reporting architecture, and alignment with Schwab technology standards.
  • Accountable for delivering all technology initiatives and deliverables of the ERP program in an effective and timely manner. Ensure all initiatives are appropriately resourced. Track and measure progress against initiatives, communicate status, and effectively manage all issues and risks. Quickly intervene to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Act as a technology thought leader and partner. Influence business and technology stakeholders to drive appropriate outcomes and approaches
  • Manage relationships with senior business partners and technology partners, ensuring a positive and collaborative work environment with shared accountability and responsibility.
  • Drive success and engagement of the program team members by ensuring well-defined roles and responsibilities, communicating the vision and the roadmap, and ensuring team members understand the impact of their work and deliverables
  • Partner with business stakeholders to drive organizational change management, business readiness, user adoption, and realization of transformation benefits throughout the ERP lifecycle
  • Establish and track measurable business outcomes including operational efficiency, process effectiveness, risk reduction, data quality improvements, and financial benefits realization
  • Lead application rationalization and modernization efforts to reduce technical debt and simplify the Finance and HR technology landscape
  • Define and implement the long-term support and operational model for the ERP platform, including production support, enhancements, release management, and continuous improvement.
  • Continually look for opportunities to drive process improvements in delivering the ERP program while ensuring effective delivery of all milestones and deliverables
  • Ensure the team complies with all Schwab and regulatory standards and policies.
  • Ensure operational excellence by closely managing program budget, risks and issues, and other operational items. Be aggressive against resolving outstanding issues.
  • Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of a large-scale ERP transformation, from platform evaluation and roadmap development through implementation, stabilization, and ongoing optimization.
  • Build, lead, and develop a team of full-time technology professionals, establishing the leadership structure, capabilities, and succession depth required to sustain the ERP organization over the long term.
  • Define and lead the integration of AI, automation, and advanced analytics across the ERP ecosystem, including strategy, architecture, governance, controls, and operating model required to deliver scalable business value in a highly regulated environment.
