About the Role
Performs technical procedures, restrains animals, operates laboratory equipment, collects specimens, and collects data on laboratory animals (canines, mice, rabbits, rats, non-human primates, swine, etc) as specified in Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with GLP standards. Supports Study Supervisor(s) and Study Director(s) by performing and assisting with sample and data collection on research studies.
What You'll Do Here
Follows SOPs and Protocols to perform procedures on study and stock animals, including, but not limited to: clinical observations, food consumptions, body weights, urine collection ,administering injectable anesthesia, mating procedures, restraint, enrichment, and feeding and food removal.
Assist with blood draws, catheter placement, dose administration, and euthanasia.
Follows written and verbal instruction: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Protocols,
Records, enters and reviews raw data, study and facility.
Sets up for procedures and maintains ancillaries on study animals.
Operates selected laboratory equipment (i.e., glucometer, digital thermometer).
Monitors and reports changes in animal behavior or health, and problems with animal
rooms (e.g., caging, lights, and temperature) to all appropriate personnel.
Maintains general cleanliness and organization of work areas.
Monitors and reports study changes to Study Director and all appropriate personnel.
Obtains animal information (tattoo, sex, ear tag, ear notch, etc), recognizes animal behavior
health status, and reports to appropriate personnel.
May perform husbandry duties

What You'll Need to Succeed
High School Diploma and/or GED required; BS/BA in a scientific discipline
ALAT certification preferred
MS Office suite. Able to adapt easily to new software programs.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software manuals, study documents, and procedure manuals; and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to work cross functionally on process improvements.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment.
Readily adapts to new projects.
Positive attitude toward work and co-workers.
Able to identify and resolve problems as they are encountered.
What We Offer
The pay range estimated for this position is $20.00 - $27.00 per hour. Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
