This position reports to:
Team Leader - Optimax__
Job Responsibilities
Developing and configuring mathematical models for ABB OPTIMAX industrial energy management and optimization applications.
Building Modelica-based models that represent equipment behavior, operating limits, efficiencies, costs, energy flows, and dependencies between assets.
Translating engineering and operational requirements into mathematical relationships and optimization constraints.
Working with industrial systems such as turbines, boilers, cogeneration units, steam networks, electrical grids, renewable generation, battery storage, and other energy-producing or consuming assets.
Defining and validating model parameters using technical documentation, equipment characteristics, historical data, and information provided by customers and process specialists.
Supporting the definition of optimization variables, constraints, objectives, and operational preferences.
Analyzing model and optimization results, identifying unrealistic behavior or infeasible conditions, and supporting troubleshooting and model improvement.
Collaborating with process engineers, project managers, software engineers, customers, and international ABB development teams.
Participating in testing, commissioning, and optimization tuning within international industrial and energy projects.
Contributing to standardized OPTIMAX modelling solutions, reusable model libraries, and engineering best practices.
Who We Are Looking For
You have a university degree in energy engineering, process engineering, control engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, operations research, or a related technical field.
You have strong analytical and logical thinking and are comfortable describing technical problems using mathematical relationships.
You have experience or a strong interest in at least one of the following areas: industrial processes, energy systems, mathematical modelling, control systems, or mathematical optimization.
You are comfortable working with equations, variables, constraints, characteristic curves, and engineering calculations.
Experience with Modelica, Dymola, OpenModelica, MATLAB/Simulink, or another modelling or simulation environment is a strong advantage.
Knowledge of mathematical optimization concepts such as objective functions, decision variables, equality and inequality constraints, LP, MILP, or nonlinear optimization is an advantage.
Experience with industrial energy systems, process automation, DCS/PLC systems, or industrial data is an advantage.
You have fluent English, including the ability to create technical documentation and communicate effectively in an international environment.
You are proactive, curious, communicative, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
You enjoy solving complex technical problems and understanding why a system behaves the way it does.
You want to grow your knowledge of Modelica, industrial energy systems, and real-time and predictive optimization.
