WGL - Senior Manager, Commercial Development – Data Centers & Power Solutions
Our Utilities business is building a new growth platform focused on delivering innovative energy infrastructure and power solutions for data centers and other large-load customers across the Mid-Atlantic region. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping market strategy, developing strategic partnerships, originating new business opportunities, and advancing complex infrastructure projects from concept through execution. This is a unique opportunity to influence how we serve one of North America's fastest growing and most dynamic customer segments.
What You'll Do
Develop and refine our Utilities' Power Solutions growth strategy, identifying opportunities across data centers, AI infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and large industrial customers
Evaluate market needs, customer requirements, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic growth decisions
Build and manage relationships with power developers, EPCs, OEMs, system integrators, and other infrastructure partners
Assess and structure partnership models that support the successful delivery of energy infrastructure solutions
Develop and manage a pipeline of large-scale power and energy infrastructure opportunities
Lead customer engagement from initial discussions through commercial negotiations and contract execution
Structure and negotiate commercial agreements with customers and strategic partners
Advance opportunities through screening, due diligence, commercial structuring, and investment approval processes
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, major projects, regulatory, legal, and finance, to move projects toward execution
Develop investment recommendations, business cases, and executive approval materials
Present opportunities and recommendations to executive leadership and governance committees
What You'll Bring
10+ years of experience in power, utilities, energy infrastructure, project development, distributed energy, data centers, or related industries
Demonstrated success leading business development, commercial strategy, and infrastructure growth initiatives
Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and relationship management skills
Experience evaluating and advancing complex infrastructure or energy projects involving multiple stakeholders
Ability to navigate technical, regulatory, financial, and commercial considerations simultaneously
Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage senior leaders, customers, and strategic partners
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with distributed generation, natural gas generation, microgrids, energy-as-a-service solutions, or data center infrastructure
Established relationships within the Mid-Atlantic data center ecosystem
Experience in project finance, infrastructure investment, or capital project evaluation

The role offers a competitive salary range of $149,200 to $215,425 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, this position is eligible for both Short-Term Incentive (STI) and Long-Term Incentive (LTI) compensation programs. Employees also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and wellness coverage, retirement savings programs, and paid time off.
