Position Summary
Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the safe, efficient, and well-maintained operation of our behavioral healthcare facility. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, grounds maintenance, and general facility upkeep to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-conscious, and experienced in general building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and equipment repair.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair work involving painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and preventive maintenance.
- Conduct facility inspections and complete routine testing of equipment and building systems.
- Clean and replace air filters in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
- Dispose of infectious and contaminated waste following established safety guidelines.
- Maintain facility grounds in a clean, safe, and professional manner.
- Repair and maintain lighting systems, including replacing bulbs and fixtures as needed.
- Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment under supervisory guidance.
- Perform janitorial duties when needed to support facility operations.
- Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment.
- Adhere to infection control standards, OSHA regulations, safety policies, and risk management procedures.
- Support a safe, therapeutic, and risk-free environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
- Maintain compliance with all facility, departmental, corporate, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate professionalism through dependable attendance, punctuality, and appropriate workplace conduct.
- Support facility-wide quality improvement and performance enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Technical or trade school training preferred.
Experience
- Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment required.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and maintenance practices.
- Previous maintenance experience in a hospital or healthcare environment strongly preferred.
Licensure
- No licensure required.
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully complete BLS (Basic Life Support) and Handle with Care (HWC) training within two weeks of employment.
- Must be available to attend a full week of hospital orientation upon hire.
- Must participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
