Underwriter

CharterWest Bank, a top statewide mortgage lender, is seeking an experienced person for their Underwriter position located at our Sioux Falls, SD location.
Employee is responsible for evaluating and underwriting residential mortgage loans in accordance with agency, investor and company guidelines

Salary negotiable depending on experience level and excellent benefits, which include:

Job Duties:
-Independently underwrite residential mortgage loan files from application to final decision
-Collaborate closely with loan officers, processors, closing and management
-Assist with guideline interpretation, scenario reviews and complex underwriting questions
-Meet established quality, productivity, and turn-time expectations
- Other duties as assigned

Applicants should have:
-2+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
- Experience with South Dakota Housing as an underwriter
- DE certifications required, SAR Preferred
- Strong understanding of conventional and government loan products, including SD Housing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain a high-volume pipeline while maintaining exceptional underwriting quality and accuracy
- The ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies, risk factors and documentation deficiencies
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
