Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Activities, Gerontology, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with older adults, individuals with disabilities, or in a healthcare/long-term-care recreation or activities program, required.
- Must meet the applicable CMS qualifications for an Activities Professional, such as qualifying certification eligibility, qualifying experience, or completion of an approved training course.
- CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) or activities-professional certification preferred, where applicable.
- Familiarity with recreational therapy principles and practices and residents' rights
- Must have good skills in working and communicating with residents.
- Must show energy, enthusiasm, and creativity in working with residents.
- Previous experience with geriatric patients is a huge plus!
- Work well under pressure & willing to work harmoniously with all staff
- Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped
- Possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents, families and staff
- Treat residents and fellow staff with respect, dignity, and compassion
- Must be able to work some weekends and some holidays
