Food Safety / Quality Technician – 1st & 3rd Shift
Job Summary
We are seeking detail-oriented Food Safety / Quality Technicians to help ensure products meet food safety, quality, and customer requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position performs quality inspections, food safety monitoring, documentation, testing, and production-floor audits. The ideal candidate will have food quality, food safety, laboratory, healthcare, or medical field experience.
Food quality or medical field experience is preferred. Automotive quality experience is generally not considered for this position because the processes and requirements are significantly different.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay: $20.50 per hour
- 1st Shift: Available
- 3rd Shift: Available
- 3rd Shift Premium: Additional $0.60 per hour
- Weekend work: Required as scheduled
Responsibilities
- Verify that products are safe and meet established quality standards
- Monitor production to ensure employees follow plant GMPs
- Verify product specifications and food safety standards are followed
- Complete required daily paperwork and quality documentation
- Communicate quality or food safety deviations to the appropriate Quality and Food Safety leadership
- Communicate with production operators and supervisors regarding quality and food safety requirements
- Perform product inspections and required laboratory work
- Conduct shipping and receiving inspections, including raw materials, dry goods, trailers, and returns
- Conduct daily SSOP, HACCP, GMP, and SQF monitoring activities
- Stop production or place product on hold when quality or food safety requirements are not being met
- Pull product samples according to customer specifications
- Perform temperature checks and equipment calibrations
- Perform testing and titrations for sanitizers such as ozone, PAA, Quat, and chlorine
- Perform product and label inspections
- Assist with quality and food safety investigations and complete required documentation
- Support corrective and preventive action activities (CAPA)
- Perform environmental swabbing and aseptic techniques as required
- Monitor and document product and ambient temperatures
- Perform pre-operational and operational equipment inspections
- Verify sanitizer and sterilizer effectiveness
- Train other employees on applicable quality and food safety procedures
Qualifications
- Food quality or food safety experience preferred
- Medical or healthcare field experience may be considered
- Automotive quality experience is generally not considered for this position
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic math skills
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to identify quality or food safety issues and communicate concerns promptly
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in variable temperatures ranging from approximately 10°F to 100°F
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds; assistance may be provided as needed
- Ability to work on the production floor for extended periods
Work Environment
- Approximately 90% of the position is spent on the production floor
- Approximately 10% is spent in the office, laboratory, or working on a computer
- Exposure to cold temperatures, wet floors, moving equipment, and industrial noise
