Description
As part of the planned spin-off of the ZEISS Hunting & Nature Business Unit, a new, independent company is being established. Recruitment for this position is conducted by ZEISS, while the employment contract will be concluded with the newly founded independent company.
Become part of Hunting & Nature – an exciting consumer business that offers innovative optical products for hunters, birders and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide. Our enthusiasm for innovation and precision drives us to develop products that enrich our customers' lives and take their nature observation and hunting experiences to a new level.
We are looking for a creative and tech-savvy Senior Embedded & FPGA Developer (f/m/d) to join our dedicated team and help develop best-in-class digital hunting and nature observation devices. ZEISS Hunting & Nature is currently undergoing an exciting transformation process: in order to position ourselves more dynamically, customer-oriented and future-oriented, we are transferring the company from the ZEISS Group into an independent unit with an investor. The new unit exclusively develops and distributes the innovative optical products for hunters, birders and outdoor enthusiasts of the ZEISS brand.
For you as a Senior Embedded & FPGA Developer (f/m/d), this means the opportunity to actively shape our product portfolio in flat hierarchies and to develop innovative digital solutions for our customers.
Your Role
Contribute to the electronics and software architecture for next-generation digital hunting and nature observation devices.
Drive innovative solutions for technically challenging and resource-constrained embedded imaging systems.
Design, implement and optimize FPGA-based image processing pipelines for real-time video and image enhancement applications.
Develop embedded software in C/C++ for microcontrollers, SoCs and bare-metal systems.
Design, implement and maintain low-level software components, device drivers and hardware abstraction layers.
Collaborate closely with electronics, image processing, optics, software and systems engineering teams to define system architecture and technical requirements.
Guide internal and external development partners and contribute to technical decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.
Work according to agile development processes using modern engineering methods, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Your Profile
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science or a related field.
Several years of experience in embedded systems development for commercial products.
Strong experience with FPGA development using VHDL, Verilog or HLS and related tools like Vivado.
Proven experience programming microcontrollers and bare-metal embedded systems in C/C++.
Experience implementing image and video processing on FPGA platforms, ideally with thermal imaging sensors.
Good understanding of digital electronics, high-speed interfaces, memory architecture and SoC-based designs.
Practical experience with embedded Linux development (Yocto or similar) or real-time operating systems.
Structured, hands-on and solution-oriented working style.
Strong communication and teamwork skills in interdisciplinary development teams.
Good English skills, both written and spoken. German is a plus.
