Job Details

The Senior Director, Enterprise Growth Programs is a senior leadership role within the Business Transformation & Growth function, responsible for accelerating enterprise-level growth initiatives across World Courier and the broader Cencora ecosystem. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Transformation & Growth, this role acts as a strategic integrator — shaping complex growth initiatives, driving cross-functional alignment, and unlocking enterprise synergies — while working in close partnership with Strategy, Innovation, IT, Finance, and the Value Management Office (VMO). This role operates upstream of execution governance and is accountable for ensuring that high-impact growth initiatives are strategically robust, commercially sound, and fully aligned before entering formal delivery structures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Enterprise Growth Initiative Development

  • Lead the shaping and maturation of selected high-priority growth initiatives prior to formal execution.

  • Develop and refine initiative value propositions, scope, and success criteria. • Build robust financial cases, including investment requirements, expected returns, and risk assessments.

  • Ensure commercial, operational, IT, and financial stakeholders are aligned on objectives and feasibility.

  • Identify structural barriers, cross-functional dependencies, and execution risks early.

  • Strengthen initiative clarity and robustness before transition into formal delivery structures. Focus: Improving the quality and clarity of individual growth initiatives.

2. Cencora Ecosystem Growth & Synergy Development

  • Drive identification and monetization of cross-business-unit growth opportunities within the broader Cencora ecosystem.

  • Identify, quantify, and prioritize enterprise-level synergy opportunities.

  • Develop structured business cases for joint offerings, partnerships, and shared capabilities.

  • Coordinate pilot programs across business units to validate revenue and operational impact.

  • Serve as World Courier’s growth interface for enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.

  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable growth opportunities for World Courier. Focus: Expanding growth beyond BU boundaries.

3. Execution Readiness & Transition to Delivery

  • Ensure disciplined transition of approved initiatives into structured execution without duplicating governance responsibilities.

  • Define clear scope, success metrics, and ownership prior to VMO onboarding.

  • Align resourcing assumptions and delivery sequencing with functional leaders.

  • Clarify roles and accountability between business sponsors, IT, Operations, and VMO.

  • Support early-phase execution alignment where complexity requires senior integration.

  • Maintain continuity of strategic intent as initiatives transition into formal delivery. Focus: Smooth and disciplined handoff to execution (VMO retains governance ownership).

4. Executive Support & Strategic Assignments

  • Provide senior-level leverage to the Vice President, Business Transformation & Growth across high impact growth priorities.

  • Represent the function in executive forums as required.

  • Lead special strategic assignments requiring cross-functional integration. • Prepare executive-level materials for Leadership Team and Board discussions.

  • Drive accountability across functional and regional leaders on agreed growth commitments.

  • Step into complex, politically sensitive initiatives where senior coordination is required. Focus: Extending executive bandwidth and ensuring cross-functional accountability.

Operating Model & Interfaces

This role works in close partnership with:

  • Strategy Team – to ensure growth initiatives align with long-term strategic direction and market insights.

  • Innovation Function – to support transition from validated concepts to enterprise growth programs.

  • Value Management Office (VMO) – which retains ownership of project governance and delivery execution. This role does not replace or duplicate the responsibilities of the VMO; rather, it strengthens initiative quality and cross-functional integration prior to and during execution.

  • IT and Operations – to ensure feasibility and scalable implementation.

  • Finance – to ensure financial rigor, capital allocation discipline, and ROI tracking.

.

Requirements

  • 10plus years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, transformation, or enterprise program leadership.

  • Background in management consulting, healthcare, logistics, life sciences, or similarly complex B2B environments.

  • Demonstrated experience shaping and leading cross-functional growth initiatives.

  • Strong financial acumen, including business case development and capital allocation discipline.

  • Experience navigating matrixed, global organizations. Capabilities

  • Exceptional strategic thinking combined with pragmatic execution orientation.

  • Ability to operate comfortably at executive level while driving alignment across functions.

  • Strong commercial judgment and value orientation.

  • High political intelligence and stakeholder management maturity.

  • Structured, analytical, and outcome-focused mindset.

  • Executive presence and credibility with senior leadership.

Success Measures

  • Number and quality of enterprise growth initiatives successfully shaped and transitioned into execution.

  • Measurable cross-BU revenue synergies identified and realized.

  • Acceleration of high-priority growth programs.

  • Increased rigor and clarity in business cases entering the VMO.

  • Executive confidence in growth portfolio governance and prioritization
