The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to take on the role of Agile Product Owner for the Electronic Protection and Arbitrary Waveform Development Team. In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in supporting the AN/TPY-2 missile defense radar program, one of the world’s most advanced and reliable X-band missile defense sensors. The AN/TPY-2 radar system delivers high-resolution detection, tracking, and discrimination of ballistic missile threats and boasts an impeccable performance record across all classes of ballistic missiles. This position is located onsite in Woburn, MA.
What You Will Do
Manage the Agile team backlog, ensuring tasks are refined, prioritized, and translated into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
Conduct regular refinement sessions, break down epics into smaller, estimable stories, and define clear sprint objectives.
Oversee the technical, financial, and schedule execution for your team, including milestone planning, schedule development, earned value tracking, and managing competing priorities.
Perform radar system performance assessments, including evaluation of threats and end-to-end system analysis.
Validate system performance by verifying requirements and generating scenarios for testing.
Develop mission plans, create radar inputs, and analyze their impact during test events and operational deployment.
Conduct performance gap analyses and trade studies to support system enhancements.
Lead the design, prototyping, software development, integration, testing, and analysis of new or enhanced radar capabilities.
Provide technical expertise in support of proposal efforts and managing team financial planning.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience leading a technical effort.
Experience in overseeing and/or monitoring technical cost and schedule performance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience working within Agile Scrum development practices.
Familiarity with Earned Value Management principles and metrics.
Experience supporting hiring activities, including interviews and staffing decisions.
Strong communication skills, including technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal collaboration.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with time‑critical deliverables.
8+ years of experience in radar engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience with Electronic Protection and Arbitrary Waveform concepts and employment techniques.
Experience developing and implementing system models, algorithms, test vectors, and analysis tools for radar performance assessment.
Experience with AI/ML signal processing and algorithm design.
Experience with Battle Management Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (BMC4I) systems.
Experience with probability, statistics, estimation theory, antenna theory, and/or electromagnetics.
Experience working with MATLAB, C/C++, CUDA, and/or Python.
Experience with system‑level requirements development, documentation, maintenance, and/or system‑level software architecture design.
Knowledge of radar system concepts including detection, discrimination, tracking, and signal processing algorithms.
Proven ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions for complex needs.
Strong analytical, technical, and problem‑solving skills.
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Business.
Active Secret Security Clearance.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
