Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Level 1 Desktop Engineer to join our IT team.
As an Upper-Level 1 Desktop Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support and assistance to end-users, ensuring the smooth operation of their desktop systems and software applications. Your primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolve technical problems, and deliver exceptional customer service to our internal users.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
- Provide first-line support to end-users via various channels (phone, email, chat) for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Assist users with password resets, account setups, and access permissions.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot desktop hardware and software problems and provide timely resolutions.
- Escalate complex issues to senior support personnel or appropriate teams while maintaining clear communication with end-users.
Problem Resolution:
- Utilize problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues and implement appropriate solutions.
- Document solutions, troubleshooting steps, and issue resolutions in a clear and organized manner.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve cross-functional technical issues that impact end-users.
Software Installation and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and update software applications on desktop systems as required.
- Ensure software licenses and versions are up to date and compliant with organizational policies.
Hardware Maintenance:
- Assist with hardware setups, including desktops, laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices.
- Perform basic hardware repairs and replacements, such as memory upgrades, hard drive replacements, and peripheral installations.
User Training and Documentation:
- Create and maintain user-friendly documentation and knowledge base articles to empower end-users to troubleshoot common issues independently.
- Provide basic training to users on software applications and best practices to enhance their computing experience.
Remote Support:
- Provide remote assistance to off-site users, ensuring consistent support regardless of location.
- Utilize remote desktop tools to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A relevant IT-related diploma, degree, or certification.
- Strong passion for technology and a keen interest in staying updated with industry trends.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Customer-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Basic knowledge of desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS) and common software applications.
