Description


What You Will Do:
- Attend budget hearings and present the justification for budget recommendations.
- Give guidance in the development of work programs and expenditure schedules.
- Analyze and make recommendations on supplementary appropriations and transfer of funds between and within activities.
- Review and analyze departmental organizational structure, allocation of functions, and personnel utilization as they relate to the budgetary program.
- Conduct studies on departmental functions, work procedures, and practices to identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Confer with departmental officials to explain and advise on budgetary and management directives and follow up for compliance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in political science, public or business administration, economics or a related field.
Four years of professional work experience, in any occupation, may substitute for a general bachelor's degree.
Four years of general work experience (does not need to be professional level experience) in budget/fiscal/business management may substitute for a general bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional analytical experience in evaluating the effectiveness of operating programs in relation to organizational objectives, one of which shall have been in a governmental agency.

Applicable Skills Needed:- Knowledge of municipal government organization, functions, and budget processes.
- Experience applying budget and management analysis principles, policies, and procedures.

- Ability to interpret laws, rules, and proposals affecting departmental programs and policies.
- Ability to communicating facts and recommendations clearly while maintaining effective working relationships.
