Position Title: Pressroom Manager

The Opportunity:

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Pressroom Manager to assume a critical leadership role within its flexographic printing operation. This is an opportunity for a proven manufacturing leader to take ownership of a key department, drive measurable operational improvements, and directly influence the performance of one of the company's most important production functions.

The organization is undergoing a transformation in how the pressroom is structured and managed. The Boss:

The Pressroom Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager and work closely with senior operational leadership. The Position:

The Pressroom Manager will lead all aspects of daily pressroom operations for a wide-web flexographic printing environment. This individual will be responsible for optimizing production performance while ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service objectives are consistently achieved.

The role requires a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of flexographic printing operations and the ability to effectively lead through supervisors, leads, and production personnel. Success will depend on the ability to coordinate multiple departments, manage competing priorities, improve operational discipline, and develop high-performing teams.

Particular emphasis will be placed on reducing setup times, improving changeover efficiency, enhancing operator capabilities, strengthening communication across shifts, and ensuring all supporting departments are aligned to maximize overall production effectiveness.

Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Lead daily pressroom operations within a wide-web flexographic printing environment.
  • Drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Coordinate production activities to maximize equipment utilization and customer service levels.
  • Reduce setup and changeover times through process improvement and workforce development initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with prepress, scheduling, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Monitor and improve key manufacturing performance indicators including uptime, waste, throughput, labor efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures and best practices.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop operators, leads, and supervisors.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence programs.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination across all shifts and departments.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives that improve overall plant performance and manufacturing capability.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background managing flexographic printing operations.
  • Proven success leading production teams and developing front-line leadership.
  • Experience improving manufacturing efficiency, productivity, quality, and workforce performance.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, workflow management, scheduling, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience operating in high-mix manufacturing environments with frequent product changeovers.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence positive operational change.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience within flexible packaging manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience managing wide-web flexographic printing operations is highly desirable.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence training is a plus.
  • Experience within packaging, paperboard, folding carton, film, or related printing industries will be considered.
