  • includes 2 weekends per month and holidays

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

 

• Acts as an advanced resource for specialty area or lead worker in clinic setting.
• Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
• Operates with the highest degree of independence in provision of patient care services with minimal physician supervision and generally in a highly specialized area.
• Assists in teaching students, residents and interns in complex techniques and procedures that are unique to specialized clinical setting.
• Uses advanced skills and in-depth clinical knowledge in a highly independent manner to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to clients across the continuum.
• Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
• Writes or dictates reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record,
• Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment; works collaboratively to formulate treatment plans.
• Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission, and discharge care.
• Performs detailed history and physical examinations and documents inpatient H & P, discharge summaries and clinical (Must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising medical staff member within 24 hours and may not be substituted for physician H & P).
• Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of patients.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
• Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care.
• Dictates and documents an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains provision of preventive health services.
• Conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
• Triages patients.
• Shares clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel and collaborates with other healthcare disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care.

 

Qualifications

Education/Training MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing required or Graduate of accredited physician assistant program

 

Licensure/Certification  Florida ARNP license or Physician Assistant licensure in the state of Florida

 Licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board or nationally certified by the NCCPA for Physician Assistants. Maintains current BLS certification.

 

Experience

 Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department (ED) setting, at least 2 years must be as an APP in an urgent care setting

 Must be competent in treating children aged 6 months and older and working independently
