Job Description Overview
This job description sets out to define the job role of a Machine Setter 2, but it is not wholly inclusive. The core objectives of this role are as follows:
Job Summary:
- Reporting to Process Technician
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - General Duties:
- Take a key role to provide Production, Production Engineering, Maintenance, Toolroom, and NPI support
- Support documentation requirements respect to areas including set-ups, production, scrap, maintenance, and training.
- Mould setting and changing.
- Process optimization.
- Trouble shooting process faults.
- Carrying out preventative maintenance when scheduled.
- Assist production process to maximise machines and materials usage to optimum efficiency.
- Ensuring targets are met as set out by the departmental managers, i.e., tool changes etc.
- Ensuring compliance to standards i.e., ISO 13485
- Train on Blow moulding process to ensure competence in Mould change over, Troubleshooting etc.
- Production:
- Mould setting and changing as per production schedule. Setting up machines to standard specification.
- Assist in the implementation of single minute exchange of dies (SMED). Ensure tool change time is at the minimum.
- Material handling of shift. Ensure dryers are maintained with material.
- Trouble shooting process faults to eliminate downtime and quality problems.
- Liaise and communicate with proceeding and following shifts
- Ensuring targets are met as set out by the departmental managers.
- Production efficiencies, etc.
- Production Engineering
- Executes Process trials and trials management. Will include manufacturing support (process debug), and NPI support (trialling, scientific injection moulding trials, OQ/PQ execution support).
- Quality:
- Approval and sign off of first of samples prior to supplying sample to QA Start up and shut down of machine when required.
- Daily monitoring of complaints, reject analysis, etc.
- Liaison with all relevant departments to eliminate process problems to reduce product defects and downtime.
- Participation in production and quality projects
- Ensuring compliance to standards i.e. ISO 13485 and TS 16949.
- Understand the requirements relating to your position and ensuring compliance.
- Updating all product mould specification changes from standard conditions on appropriate documents
- Analysis of non-conforming product to eliminate machine problem affecting product quality.
- A non-conforming report shall be filled out to document corrective action.
- Compliance and utilisation of the red bin procedure when dealing with non-conforming product.
Ad Hoc:
- Provides additional support and assistance on tasks and projects as directed by Management.
Housekeeping:
- Ensure that all work areas are kept free of excess product and materials
- Machine surfaces are kept clear of waste materials.
- All walkways, fire exits and fire points should be clear at all times.
- Water, oil and air leaks should be made safe immediately and spillages cleaned up.
- Material spills to be cleaned up in a timely manner.
- Prior to commencing production run all waste material/ set up rejects to be removed from the line.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure all machine safety mechanisms are fully functional prior to commencing production runs. (e.g. electrical panels on machines left open).
- Carrying out all work using safety equipment and procedures involved.
- Use of all Personnel Protection Equipment as required.
- Understanding of emergency plans (evacuation, emergency stop on machines etc.).
- Report all potential hazards.
Education & Experience Required:
• 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic knowledge of IT skills is desirable.
• Knowledge of Production procedures.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Knowledge of quality requirements.
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
