Job Description Summary
Provide support to the Outage Manager in the implementation and maintenance of the Outage EHS (Environment Health & Safety) Plan and EHS (Environment Health & Safety) Management System. Supervise site activities to ensure that the defined Outage EHS (Environment Health & Safety) rules are complied with.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Outage Manager/ Site Leader to develop the Daily Outage Report and update the daily management display board.
- Carry out continuous inspections of the site areas (minimum 80 % of the time in the field), treat and report any discrepancy.
- Act immediately on unsafe acts and conditions observed at site
- Assist the Outage Manager/Site Leader in ensuring compliance of site activities with the GE Vernova Life Saving Rules, DIR-057, Outage Specific EHS (Environment Health & Safety) Plan, guidelines and work instructions.
- Support compliance with the site disciplinary procedure and zero tolerance policy.
- Provide support and advice to site personnel as to prevent harm or damage to people, equipment and the environment
- Liaise with site staff to have deviations reported and follow up on closure
- Lead by example in complying with the site EHS (Environment Health & Safety) rules.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statement for all activities in area of responsibility
- Participate in incident investigations and review incident documentation for completeness, that correct information is captured and that sustainable measures are implemented to prevent re-occurrence
- Carry out any other specific task or duty defined by the Site Leader to support the implementation and maintenance of the site EHS (Environment Health & Safety) Management System.
- Present/attend daily toolbox talks
- Actively participate in the development of Point of Work Risk Assessments.
- Full compliance with GEV Life Saving Rules, SP DIR-0057 and site requirements verified through field audits
- Deviation reports / Outage EHS (Environment Health & Safety) Reports
Required Qualifications
- National Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management or Environmental Health from an accredited institution or college.
- Minimum 3 years experience as SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions as a Registered CHSO (Construction Health Safety Officer) in Power Station.
- A recognized safety certification (minimum: of 2 weeks training) (e.g. SAMTRAC / Modern SHEQ Management course)
- OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) Act and Regulations Certification
- COID (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases) Act Certification
- First Aid training Certificate level 1
