Job Summary
The Sales Director position is responsible for leading the country’s sales strategy, driving revenue growth, enhancing profitability of business, expanding market share, and building strong customer relationships across key channels and industrial accounts. This role provides leadership to the sales organization, develops high-performing teams, and ensures alignment with overall business objectives. The Sales Director will report directly to the Managing Director of T&O India and work cross-functionally with marketing, service, finance, operations, and product teams to deliver sustainable growth and customer satisfaction in the Indian market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the sales strategy for India & neighboring countries in alignment with regional and global business goals.
- Deliver revenue, profitability, & market share targets across assigned business segments and territories.
- Champion growth across sales channels, viz. distribution channel, institutional channel, eCommerce.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and customer needs to support growth plans.
- Build, lead, coach, and retain a high-performing sales team across India.
- Establish strong relationships with key customers, distributors, channel partners, and industrial users.
- Drive account planning, pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and sales performance reviews.
- Monitor competitive activity and market dynamics to refine commercial strategies.
- Collaborate with marketing to support product launches, campaigns, and demand generation initiatives.
- Partner with supply chain, customer service, and operations teams to ensure strong execution and customer experience.
- Lead contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and commercial terms within approved authority levels.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical business practices.
People Leadership Responsibilities
- Set clear objectives and performance expectations for the sales team.
- Coach & develop team members through regular feedback, training, and career development planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.
- Support talent acquisition, succession planning, and organizational capability building.
- Drive performance management processes and recognition programs.
Required Qualifications
- MBA in Sales, Marketing, Operations from a premier institute.
- Minimum 15-20 years of progressive sales experience, with significant leadership responsibility.
- Proven track record of delivering growth & profitability, and leading sales teams in India.
- Experience of working in multinational organizations.
- Strong experience in B2B, channel sales, key account management, or distribution-led environments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute commercial strategies in a complex market.
- Experience managing large customers, strategic negotiations, and cross-functional business planning.
