Job Details:

Purpose

The Medical Library Assistant position is for a current Master of Science in Information Studies or Master of Library Science student. The position will support the Health Sciences Librarian with instruction, collection development and maintenance, maintaining and creating LibGuides, and other library needs. This position is ideal for a student who would like to become an academic or medical librarian.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and create LibGuides

  • Support Librarian-led instruction sessions with opportunities to contribute to instruction or lead small workshops with Librarian guidance

  • Reference tasks: may attend research consultations, assist with creating and translating search strategies, or provide basic reference services

  • Collection tasks: historical medical book collection cataloging, maintaining small lending library collection, or collection reports

  • Miscellaneous projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

Enrollment in a Master of Library Science or Master of Science of Information Studies program during the 2026-2027 school year.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in academic librarianship or medical librarianship as a career

  • Experience using library databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, or EBSCO databases

Hourly Rate
$22.00 Hourly
