Description
Responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. * Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
* Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
* Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
* Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
* Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
* Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
Follows identified course activities to meet learning objectives that support the goals of the course
Assists with curriculum design
Maintains regular office hours
Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom
Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Serves on college or department committees as needed
Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus
Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
Provides class coverage for fellow instructors as needed
Maintains or obtains NCCER certification as required for assigned courses
Participate in graduation exercises
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
Be innovative, creative, motivated
Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
Good organizational skills
Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as Blackboard.
Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to troubleshoot difficult projects
Must have strong leadership skills
Must demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills
Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
Minimum Requirements:
EPA Refrigerant Certification
And
Associate degree in Heating & Cooling Technology, Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration and three years of field experience (warranty, service, maintenance or installation)
OR
H1, H2, H3, or Commercial Refrigeration State Contractor’s License and five (5) years experience (warranty, service, maintenance or installation)

Preferences:
Ten (10) years of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration field experience (warranty, service, maintenance or installation)
Three years of post-secondary teaching experience
