At Citi, we get to connect millions of people across hundreds of cities and countries every day.  And we've been doing it for more than 200 years.  We do this through our unparalleled global network.  We provide a broad range of financial services and products to our clients – whether they be consumers, corporations, governments or institutions – to help them meet their biggest opportunities and face the world's toughest challenges.

  • Citi provides programs and services for your physical and mental well-being including access to telehealth options, health advocates, confidential counseling and more. Coverage varies by country

  • We empower our employees to manage their financial well-being and help them plan for the future

Citi Global Wealth (CGW) is a Division of Citi focused on serving the needs of clients across the entire wealth spectrum. It delivers a wide range of products and services covering capital markets, managed investments, portfolio management, trust and estate planning, investment finance and banking. By building on the strengths and capabilities across Citi, we intend to transform the way we serve clients across the wealth spectrum, delivering the full range of high-tech and high-touch capabilities Citi can offer, and ultimately help them achieve their goals.

The Lending business of Wealth offers a diverse product range including Securities Backed Lending (SBL), Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Aircraft, Art-backed Finance as well as tailored solutions for target market clients of the Private Bank. Wealth Credit Management (WCM) is a critical component of the First Line of Defense for credit risk management and works within the business with Independent Risk partners to ensure best-in-class risk and controls, while maintaining client responsiveness.

Key responsibilities of the group include credit analysis, documentation, risk identification, exposure monitoring and associated administration of Citi Global Wealth lending activities. Within WCM, the Wealth Credit Management Underwriter manages a portfolio of clients with lending requirements. The lending is typically fully collateralized against investment portfolios, Commercial Real Estate, Aircraft, Art Collections, or Illiquid Listed Stocks.

Given the sophisticated nature of many client portfolios, the role requires a strong understanding of derivatives and structured products, including their risk characteristics, collateral treatment, and impact on overall client credit exposure, leverage, liquidity, and portfolio risk.

We expect the incumbent to be a credit professional who stays abreast of developments within their field and contributes to the directional strategy of the Private Banking Lending business. It would be an added advantage if the candidate is recognized as a technical authority in this field. We also expect the candidate to possess strong commercial awareness in relation to lending transactions. This is an individual contributor role within a larger regional team; therefore, strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills are required to guide, influence, and collaborate effectively with internal partners and, on occasion, external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lending Advisors with preparing Credit Greenlight Memos, where applicable.
  • Perform full credit underwriting with appropriate risk-return characteristics in accordance with Citi's Credit and Product Standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare Credit Applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information and analysis.
  • Conduct financial analysis, including cash flow assessment and modeling.
  • Evaluate collateral including investment portfolios, commercial real estate, art collections, aircraft, and other asset classes.
  • Prepare and negotiate credit documentation for facilities, including liaison with internal and external legal counsel as required, and undertake annual documentation reviews.
  • Prepare and review facility covenants.
  • Assist in Portfolio Management activities, including Annual Credit Reviews, covenant monitoring, compliance monitoring, waivers, extensions, and related system maintenance in partnership with Data Management Teams.
  • Identify emerging credit issues and assist with classified loan and remedial management activities.
  • Assess and analyze derivative and structured product exposures within client portfolios, evaluating associated market, liquidity, counterparty, and collateral risks as part of the overall credit underwriting and portfolio management process.
  • Incorporate derivative and structured product positions into credit assessments, collateral evaluations, and ongoing portfolio monitoring to ensure risks are appropriately identified, measured, and managed.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhering to policy; applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices; and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of financial analysis, including financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of derivatives and structured products, including options, futures, forwards, swaps, structured notes, and other complex investment instruments, with the ability to assess their impact on credit risk, leverage, liquidity, and portfolio concentration.
  • Experience analyzing complex investment portfolios and incorporating derivative exposures into credit underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio monitoring.
