The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. Our mission is to inspire and steward meaningful, lasting relationships that elevate engagement and giving to fulfill Emory’s mission to serve humanity. We are currently seeking a Director of Advancement and Alumni Services.

 

The Principal and Transformative Gifts team is centered on driving intentional relationships that will inspire transformational donor investments. The Advancement Strategy and Services team provide operational services, strategic strategies, and stewardship for the department of Principal and Transformative Gifts as well as the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations and Gift Planing. This position will report to the Senior Director, Advancement and Alumni Services– Advancement Strategy. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs special projects for a department, school, unit, or program in Advancement and Alumni Engagement.
  • Manages and helps develop the strategic planning processes and oversees progress toward achieving project goals for a specific unit.
  • Develops and administers project budgets.
  • Participates in the identification of funding sources, initiatives and strategies.
  • Prepares communication documents for articles, reports, and/or presentations.
  • Develops short and long term project goals and objectives.
  • Represents and promotes projects at speaking engagements and with various constituencies.
  • Conducts research, analyzes data and identifies and summarizes trends.
  • Develops and prepares reports.
  • Serves as a liaison with other university departments.
  • May supervise staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Director may be required to:

  • Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Research Administration, General Counsel, and Procurement for a cross-functional approach to monitoring and executing corporate and foundation awards, grants, and contracts.
  • Oversee the completion of Corporate and Foundation Relations and Gift Planning gift agreements.
  • Monitor reporting of gifts, awards, grants, and contracts in multiple institutional platforms.
  • Track reporting requirements and stewardship touch-points to support donors throughout the donor life cycle.
  • Manage high priority, division wide projects in support of AAE strategic goals.
  • Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.
  • This position requires coming in person two days a week. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of experience in administration, fundraising, alumni engagement, fundraising campaigns, or related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Successful candidates will have extensive experience managing projects, budgets, and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Project Management Certification.
  • Skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Proficiency in fundraising reporting and counting.
  • Strong database technology and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, and navigate a complex work environment.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience leading teams, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Prior experience in administrative management, advancement, fundraising, campaign, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
  • Experience navigating the policies, procedures, and operational workflows that support sponsored research across the proposal, award, and post-award lifecycle.
  • Experience navigating the policies, procedures, operational workflows, and data that support planned and complex giving, including coordination with gift compliance, administration, and/or accounting partners to ensure compliance, accuracy, and effective recording.
  • Experience tracking and reporting on budgets for gifts and grants, including coordination with sponsored research and finance partners to ensure compliance, accuracy, and effective stewardship of funds.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines. 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
