Torbay’s Beach Services Team is looking for a Beach and Resorts Officer to help maintain and enhance Torbay’s coastline. This is a varied, active role where no two days are the same, combining customer service, site management and essential hands-on maintenance skills.

Torbay’s Beach Services Team is looking for a Beach and Resorts Officer to help maintain and enhance Torbay’s coastline. This is a varied, active role where no two days are the same, combining customer service, site management and essential hands-on maintenance skills.

- Carpentry work on beach huts, cabins and chalets.
- Roof maintenance including re-felting beach huts.
- Identifying faults and repairing defects quickly and effectively.
- Using tools and materials confidently to keep facilities safe and operational.
- These are key skills the team needs right now – so if you enjoy fixing things and seeing the results of your work straight away, this role will suit you perfectly.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out maintenance and repairs across beach huts, chalets and seafront facilities.
- Inspecting sites and taking action to resolve issues before they become bigger problems.
- Preparing and maintaining beach huts and visitor facilities throughout the season.
- Supporting the cleanliness, safety and presentation of Torbay’s beaches.
- Working with the operational team and engaging with the public, visitors and tenants.
- Helping deliver a safe, welcoming and high-quality environment across Torbay.
Working pattern
- The role includes regular weekend working during the busy season (1st May to 1st September) as part of a rota, alongside weekday duties.

Essential:
- Strong practical skills in DIY, carpentry or maintenance work.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- A flexible approach to working hours, including weekends during peak season.
- A reliable team player who can support colleagues across a range of tasks.
- Good communication skills and a positive approach when dealing with the public.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
- Good knowledge of DIY and general maintenance.
- Experience using hand and power tools confidently.
- Experience in painting and decorating to support the upkeep of beach huts and facilities.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Experience working outdoors.
- Experience working with the public.
- Full driving licence.
- First Aid (or willingness to obtain once in position).
