About the Role
As a Senior Consultant in our newly formed Technology Risk and Cyber Security team in Perth, you’ll be joining a growing local capability that complements our well-established national Risk Advisory Services practice. This expansion reflects our commitment to supporting clients in Western Australia with deep expertise in cyber security, technology risk, and resilience.
Whether supporting organisations at the beginning of their cyber journey or advising mature enterprises on complex risk strategies, your role will be key in helping clients strengthen their security posture and navigate the evolving threat landscape with confidence.
About the Team
BDO's Technology Risk and Cyber Security Team provides a full range of contemporary risk solutions to help our clients navigate a diverse range of challenges, changes, and opportunities. The services the team provide include:
Technology control assessment
IT Internal Audit
Business and technology resilience
AI Risk and Governance
Cyber security governance, risk and compliance
Operational Technology (OT) Security
Independent Project Assurance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessing cyber and technology threats, vulnerabilities and risks using recognised risk management frameworks and methodologies
Designing and testing IT and security controls using regulatory requirements and recognised frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF, AESCSF, ACSC Essential Eight, CPS 234, ISO 27001, COBIT and SOX)
Identifying and documenting relevant mitigation strategies, preparing management reports
Supervising fieldwork and preparing written reports of a high quality and standard and work to budgets and timelines
Providing a coaching and mentoring role to junior staff and ensuring their ongoing development
Undertaking appropriate training and professional development activities related to your field of expertise
Skills/Attributes Required:
Experience in a similar role in practice or industry
A relevant degree or post graduate qualification
Experience delivering technology risk reviews, cyber security assessments, IT internal audits, control assurance engagements and governance reviews
Understanding of cyber & operational resilience, business continuity and risk management concepts
Strong working knowledge of key business and IT related risks
Experience with developing project scopes and statements of work
Experience facilitating workshops, documenting processes, and identifying risks, controls and improvement opportunities
Ability to engage effectively with business and technology stakeholders ranging from operational staff through to senior management
Certifications or qualifications relevant to the role are preferred (CISA, PRINCE2, CISM, CRISC, CISSP, SABSA etc.)
