TITLE: Special Appeals / Smartdata Accountant
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Finance Department; 701 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123
REPORTS TO: Divisional Assistant Controller
SALARY and GRADE: $56,105-$62,399 depending on education and experience; 11 Exempt
SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours per week; M-F

Overview: Responsible for all phases of special appeals distribution and administering Smartdata.
Responsibilities
DUTIES:
- Distribute mail appeal, National Classy, Territorial Classy contributions to proper destination based on information received from Territorial Headquarters (THQ) and Development.
- Distribute matching gifts, Mobile Cause, check, cash, money order donation contributions based off information given by Development.
- Maintains the accounting functions through post-closing trial balance for the Special Appeals fund, including general ledger analysis & bank reconciliation.
- Reviews Special Appeals monthly financial reports generated from Serenic following up on any inaccuracies, irregularities and any other specific concerns, including timelines.
- Serve the Divisional System Administrator for Smart Data.
- Manage all activity related to the issuing of corporate credit cards.
- Provide Smart Data training and support to all credit card holders in the division.
- Review and approve transactions as needed in SmartData.
- Run reports on a weekly and monthly basis to track credit card and cash transactions.
- Processing reimbursement to individuals and ensuring proper accounting and cash activity between the division and THQ.
- Serve as Divisional contract administrator for Verizon contract, including download of Verizon bill, turn service on/off, keep the cost centers up to date, troubleshoot any phone issues.
- Performs all related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or degree candidate preferred.
- Minimum of two years of general accounting experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Possess strong time management, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
- Meet the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including the PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
- Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
