The Security System Technician is responsible for the installation, setup, and configuration of access control systems and video security cameras.
What you'll do:
- Install, program, and configure access control and surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras, access control panels, intrusion alarm system and related hardware and software components, according to customer specifications and project requirements.
- Responsible for the connection of control panels, application requirements, wire concealment and security software installation.
- Conduct thorough testing of installed systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Provide training to customers on the operation and basic maintenance of access control and video security systems.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and inspections of security system installations to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Address customer questions and concerns during and after the installation.
- Maintain accurate records of all installation activities, including configurations, wiring diagrams, and system settings.
- Run electrical wiring; related activities to include drilling, trenching, and aerial runs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Vocational or trade school courses in electrical, electronics, or communication systems preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in the physical security, fire alarm or low voltage communication industry installing field devices, and programing systems.
- Experience with any or all of the following preferred: Access Control, Salto, Hirsch, Open Options, Genetec, Video Surveillance, Hanwha, Milestone, Vicon.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Sense of urgency, self-initiative, dedication, and sense of ownership.
- Effective written and verbal interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- Outstanding ability to follow through from start to finish of work.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to balance multiple priorities.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company needs including to be vaccinated for the flu and/or Covid-19, and subject to all applicable laws.
- Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
- Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
