Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Transporter, you will be a crucial link in our healthcare delivery system, ensuring the seamless movement of patients, materials, and essential supplies throughout the hospital. This role directly impacts patient experience and operational efficiency across various departments.Every day you will facilitate diverse transportation needs, from moving patients to and from surgical units and imaging departments, to transporting specimens, medications, and equipment. You'll ensure patient safety through proper handling, manage logistics for discharges, and maintain cleanliness of transport equipment, all while adhering to strict hospital protocols.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, meticulous attention to detail in verifying patient identity, and exceptional logistical coordination. Your ability to consistently meet departmental response targets and effectively interact with care teams will be vital in supporting the high-quality care provided at our facility.
- Maintains patient safety while transporting patients to and from various departments within the hospital by appropriate means: wheelchair, gurney, bed, or by ambulation. The time of transport shall comply with department guidelines 95-98% of the time as measured by transport logs and record review.
- Checks the patient identification band to ensure patient identity 100% of the time.
- Assists department personnel to transfer patients to and from imaging equipment in a safe and timely manner. Assists technologists with film processing, preparing rooms for procedures, cleaning/organizing work areas and stocking department supplies. Measured by observation and no more than 1-3 formal complaints in this area per year.
- Reports equipment issues to Supervisor or seeks appropriate resources for repairs within one hour 96-98% of the time. Assists with basic clerical activities, answering telephones, and work organization with no more than 1-3 formal complaints per year.
- Informs department staff immediately of any patient status changes and delays and notifies the care team members whenever a patient leaves or returns to the nursing unit. Measured by observation and no more than 1-3 formal complaints per year.
- Records each patient transport accurately on the nursing log sheet or sign out sheet each time a patient is transported; observes all patient precautions identified at the bedside; measured by no more than 1-3 omissions per year.
Job Requirements
Required
- 6 months Related experience that will support necessary skills and ability of job description
- Basic Life Support - CPR - authorized by the American Heart Association
Preferred
- Healthcare field experience
